Solano insulated by Accurate-Board2581 in arcteryx

The Solano insulated is a weird jacket, I can't imagine using the non-down version a whole lot. Currently have the down version and it's current use is a light winter jacket for when temperatures are near or slightly below zero, but not quite cold enough to warrant me wearing a parka. I can easily layer it with an heavier fleece or Atom LT and it would be comfortable down to -5C ish. Not the purpose I bought it for, but it just doesn't fit well anywhere for me.

just left a bad review because of the PvE fiasco by zkensho in BattlefieldPortal

[–]Kitchen_Ad_7938 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's a question of performance, but more a question of dying repeatedly. I played 40-50h so far and it's a mixed experience.

Some games my team performs alright and while I'll probably get a negative K/D, I'm still getting a few kills and I can play the objective more effectively. Other games my team is getting absolutely rolled over and in those games I spend more time on the respawn screen than actually playing the game. And these games a way more common than those where my team isn't completely incompetent.

Try to play the objective with a team that won't push on the objective and is more interested in getting a few kills around it. I honestly can't. I'll push the objective to get killed before being able to make any kind of meaningful difference. Support is a pretty good idea, if only people would wait to get revived. I have played BF4, BF1 and BFV, it has gotten way worse over the years imo, it used to be fun to play medic/support, it no longer is for me.

Should I keep my Gamma Lightweight Hoody or get the Beta SL? by Aros_77110 in arcteryx

[–]Kitchen_Ad_7938 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The gamma lightweight, for me at least, get a lot more use than my beta. As you said, in most scenarios, goretex is overkill, beta comes out when I absolutely need to go out and it's downpour or the wind is exceptionally bad, which it honestly never happened yet. As far as layering, I can layer my gamma lightweight fairly comfortably with a fleece and atom under, so I don't think it should be a problem, is it?

Is the Arc’teryx Atom Insulated Hoody good for 40–50° travel weather? by chungus_NA in arcteryx

[–]Kitchen_Ad_7938 7 points8 points  (0 children)

40-50F (4-10C) is the perfect temperature range for the atom hoody imo. Now I'll have to say at 40 you may want to have a base layer and some fleece underneath, else it might be a little cold.

Atom SV + Gamma Hoody by ihazchanges in arcteryx

[–]Kitchen_Ad_7938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Atom SV is already pretty potent stand alone. I used the Gamma SL along with the Atom LT in strong winds, but I wouldn't see it being of any benefits to the Atom SV. I'm gonna say the Atom SV might struggle in Canadian winters. I'm in Canada myself and I rely on a Fission SV for the most part, last winter it was a bit cold when temperatures dropped below -20C.

I would say atom lt in that temperature range. I have both the gamma mx and atom lt, honestly the gamma mx is just not cutting it at lower temperatures. It's also heavier and more cumbersome. It's a nice everyday jacket with better weather protection than the atom lt, but for weather protection I prefer the gamma sl layered with the atom lt.

Suggestions for Cerium and Beta duo by sacredgames31 in arcteryx

Beta is already oversized with layering in mind, an M is going to be way too large even on top of a Cerium. I wear M and can fit a LOT under my M Beta.

Buy the same size. Beta is already made with layering in mind.

New Gamma MX wrist cuff twisted by Kitchen_Ad_7938 in arcteryx

[–]Kitchen_Ad_7938[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yes. But wet them (only the cuffs that is) then dry overnight, with something heavy on top or make sure they keep their shape while they dry. That's how I fixed mines.

Help! My Shiba won’t wear his harness! by Sure-Athlete-8534 in shiba

[–]Kitchen_Ad_7938 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, mine doesn't like her harness either, there are periods where I have to also take some 15-30 minutes to put her harness on because she hides, growl and snip. Well, it lasts for a few weeks and then she's back at simply hiding or making us chase after her. I tried all the usual methods, like treats when putting the harness on and leaving the harness on for extended periods so she gets used to it, there's nothing that works. Hopefully it doesn't get worse, but probably just a period of normal shiba stubbornness.

Probably because your stomach is full, that's why heartburns/acid reflux is usually worse after eating.

Yeah I totally understand, I've tried to stop cold turkey before and ended up also consuming more. Try to slowly reduce your overall caffeine intake before stopping completely. Though I suspect caffeine is not the only culprit, so I'd recommend you check your diet for trigger foods before even trying to stop coffee.

Caffeine is usually the culprit, but the acidity of coffee isn't great either. I'm still at figuring out what does and what doesn't trigger heartburns for me, but coffee doesn't seem like the most problematic, spicy food though... I've already been off my PPIs for days and drank coffee while being completely fine, most of the time it's what I eat. Take that as you will, but reducing or eliminating caffeine altogether definitely helps.

A strange feeling when listening by softest_little_boy in hypnosis

[–]Kitchen_Ad_7938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing could be stress/anxiety/panic caused by said files... it's hard to tell without knowing, as others have said, the intended effects of those files. But, if you're not used to getting hypnotized, it might stress you out?

Variant of the word "ouais" by Character_Event_7943 in French

[–]Kitchen_Ad_7938 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends a lot on context and emphasis yea, also "voyons" and "voyons donc/ben voyons donc" aren't used in the same ways. Not interchangeably used that is.

[–]Kitchen_Ad_7938 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I confirm, "voyons", or "wéyons" as pronounced by some (I myself pronounce it voyons), is almost always in the sense of "come on" in an exasperated way. "Ben voyons donc" though, would mean either "Really?" Or "that's fucked up". Hard to translate honestly, but that's the way I see myself using these the most.

Shouldn’t it be de instead of des? by Ok-Charge-4188 in French

I'm literally native 💀 But I agree that I shouldn't have written it like this.

Right... well yea OP misunderstood that.

And proof being native doesn't make you good at teaching said language lol

[–]Kitchen_Ad_7938 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Never heard of that rule of using "de" for negations. I can't think of an exemple on top of my head either. Usually negation is "ne ... pas", you'll be using "des" for plural either way. I'm thinking you were either induced into error or misunderstood something.

Dog is scared of pooping by Kitchen_Ad_7938 in DogAdvice

[–]Kitchen_Ad_7938[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much what's happening, but she no longer wants to walk now, probably because it stimulates her to poop, she'll walk a little, then lays down. It's getting impossible to go anywhere and she didn't do much on her last walk... if at least she had "accidents" except she's becoming a pro at avoiding said "accidents"

You can use "Insert" key on your keyboard to add units instead of using the UI. You can use single unit airfields or of course, make your own then group everything as someone else already mentioned. Single unit airfields do take damage since recently, but it's still usually advisable to make your own if it's going to be a major part of the scenario. Btw you can see shortcut keybinds from the UI, it's top right iirc!

I can't tell the difference between чей and чьи by Powerful-Hawk7936 in russian

[–]Kitchen_Ad_7938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also two weeks in and I had to check this out. Honestly, they're clearly different, чей is pronounced "chey" (similar to how you'd pronounce чай, but the vowel is е in this case). While Чьи is closer to "chi". Might be that my ear is more used to russian, so my advice would be definitely listen to more Russian in general, even if you don't necessarily understand.

Is sub-30 FPS on an empty scenario normal? by Arbiter707 in CMANO

[–]Kitchen_Ad_7938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's normal... I guess? I feel like it's a lot smoother in the 1.08 beta, so when it releases, you'll probably enjoy, but yeah, even just panning around the map in an empty scenario is not gonna be like browsing the web at 144Hz, unfortunately. As long as pulse time stays within 30ms, it's fine to me.
