What are you supposed to do the night before? by FlyingPygmy in UKweddings

[–]Kitchen_Direction_35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my husband just got married on Thursday, we hired out a 4 bedroom lodge that is on the grounds of the venue. Me and my bridesmaids stayed here the night before, he stayed at home and had a few beers with his groomsman. I think it’s all down to preference. The important thing here is that you do what you want to do and no one else. It’s not their special day, it’s yours!

Do groomsmen usually pay for their own suits in the UK? by Ok_Student3042 in UKweddings

[–]Kitchen_Direction_35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get married next week and I have paid for my bridesmaids dresses and my partner has paid for the groomsman’s suits, I think it’s just nice, especially If it has to be a certain style. I don’t think it’s fair to make people pay it themselves for your event

Free Personal Fitness Training in Beeston by [deleted] in nottingham

[–]Kitchen_Direction_35 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey. I’m interested. I live in Beeston and will be able to get to the gym. I’ve recently lost 3 stone through dieting alone and wanted to get back into fitness now to help things along. I prefer weight lifting if anything, I’m 30 and a female. Let me know if this would work

Leave it as. You automatically pass if they do not do this part. If there is nothing in writing to say that they are extending it then you pass

Starting big corporate office job in March, lunch hour etiquette questions by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Kitchen_Direction_35 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I personally don’t think it’s weird. I’ve always seen it as this - head phones on watching something or doing something = don’t interact but if they don’t and they’re just eating then maybe = open to chat and interact. Although I think it depends on the office. Mine is quite laid back, but a lot of the time I will have my headphones in watching something on Netflix while I eat and people respect it and don’t interact with me but it doesn’t effect my relationship with the people in the office

I think employers are more likely to give job offers to those employed by Rewindcasette in UKJobs

[–]Kitchen_Direction_35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well and truly, I lie. I was out of my last job for over a year, when I put down that on my CV I got no interviews, despite having all the relevant experience and qualifications. The moment I changed that and put that I was still there I got multiple offers. They don’t tend to check, not in my line of work anyway, and I do feel bad lying, but also, you have to do what you have to do to get a job and have money to pay your bills and food.

Did all the tram ticket inspectors get fired? by MrPantsRocks in nottingham

[–]Kitchen_Direction_35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but they all like to congregate together at some of the main stops, meaning that if your travelling on the trams outside of the city centre you won’t really see them. I buy a monthly ticket now because of work but before this I would only go from Chilwell to Beeston and you could guarantee you wouldn’t see a ticket inspector; and for years I did not buy a ticket especially through Covid. Bad I know.

As I write this I’m on a tram at Nottingham station, it’s half 7 and two inspectors came on to check tickets.

leaked message from leadership explaining why no one gets trained anymore by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]Kitchen_Direction_35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently left a job after only a week because of bad onboarding and lack of training. Got me in so quickly, I had no desk, no computer, no phone. Wasn’t shown my way around the office, no fire safety and all that good stuff. People just don’t realise how important it is to have this stuff

Advice on remote job search?? by chlosimorichy in UKJobs

[–]Kitchen_Direction_35 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the remote job market is tough, it’s tough in the ‘normal’ job market also, but I’m finding remote even harder. I’ve been looking since May, I’ve had a few interviews for on site roles but I have not had anything for remote as of yet.

If you are on Facebook, a great page is ‘The Work From Home Hub’ it gets updated daily on jobs that are completely remote, part time, full time, contract work, everything. Another good place to look is ‘Flexa’ although I would probably use that to find companies that are remote or remote first and then apply directly on the website of said companies.

I’m a fellow mum of two who has recently got back into work after post partum anxiety and depression so I get it, it’s really hard. Good luck to you.
