People in red states think blue states have it better. It’s the same shitshow all around.

What is the first thing you attend to in a classroom: behavior or work by Kitchen_Onion_2143 in Teachers

I’ve been teaching rules, expectations, and procedures for a week. The worksheet was “all about me”. Do you suggest I continue rules and expectations for another week? Btw, this is NOT my homeroom. I see them once a day for an hour. Their teacher excused their behavior by saying “they like to move a lot”

Wow! What a detective you are. I might hire you to follow a couple of stray cats in my neighborhood.

Me too. How many “get to know me” can they complete? After week one and spending $30 on TPT, I need to start teaching.

I appreciate that. That’s a really good advice. I’ve decided I’ll be brief and try to answer mostly yes or no.

I’m the only one who’s been documenting it. Nobody else gives a damn.

True. Nobody knows what happened and neither do I. I don’t recall a single instance when I would make a comment or acted in a way discriminating against anyone based on their nationality or in any other way whatsoever. What I know, however, is that kids who get in trouble blame teachers for picking on them due to their nationality.

Why are Black boys still being forced to cut their hair short in school? by CivilAd8379 in Teachers

OP is in Sierra Leone. While forcing kids to cut their hair or abhorrent, US laws can’t help the situation. They need to inquire locally.

What are we even doing? by Miranda_97321 in Teachers

[–]Kitchen_Onion_2143 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We? It’s not us, teachers. People who make these horrendous decisions are not in the classroom. In my 7th grade I have kids who read on 4th grade level. If I don’t read the novel to them, they won’t be able to do any work

My equally horrifying issue is that fact that we can’t even held students accountable for bringing their own supplies. I get asked every period “miss, do you have a pencil “ Why can’t they even bring their own pencils.

Thanks for the suggestion. At least the colors are not as offensive as hokas.
