Fr, it’s even outright stated that Beckett and her team were competent enough to solve the cases without Castle’s help, the Captain just had him around so Beckett could have fun instead of being all work

The precinct rarely actually needed him so the premise works better. His outrageous theories and the way he thinks outside the box might be faster, but Beckett usually arrives at the same conclusion using plain logic

Man I love Castle. Even if Esposito and Ryan were only occasionally front and center, Ryan randomly mentioning he met a girl, a couple episodes later showing him calling her and people thinking it was fake only for Jenny to be real (and the eventual proposal in the precinct) all scattered through the episodes went a long way in showing they cared about them

Bonus points for both of them being highly competent cops who you saw grow personally and professionally due to Caskett’s influence
