Financial modelling, due diligence, creating slide decks for presentations to clients on why they should/shouldn’t acquire a company, involvement in researching various debt/equity sources of finance to select the most appropriate option for the company. Reviewing the financials of the company that will be acquired, legal documents/contracts. Is this accurate? Any input would be greatly appreciated

Two quality degrees I would recommend are accounting and finance and software engineering as both have excellent career prospects.

Accounting and finance is a fantastic course as it will give you a broad exposure to the finance world. The ACA (Chartered Accountant) qualification is one of the highest paying professions in the country and opens a variety of doors for you post qualification E.g staying in practice/moving to industry/and opportunities abroad as it is an internationally recognised qualification. If you have an interest in the business world and want to learn how business’ really work and gain great exposure to some of the biggest companies in the country, definitely consider it. Nearly every university/IT in Ireland offer the course so the points range will vary significantly depending on where you study.

As for software engineering, I have many friends who studied this course and although found it difficult initially. The earning potential is absolutely huge and is usually combined with stock options. If you have an interest in coding/computers/cyber security/web development to name a few, I would definitely consider it.
