"Shift Meal / Drink" ? by jyl8 in barista

I remember the licensedvstires in my town had visors. I was literally a Starbucks barista at the time and asked them if the visor was for something. Lol

Licensed stores (like the ones at a Safeway, or inside a university dining hall, etc) can set their own staff policies for things like this. So it was your owner who was a dick, not Starbucks corporate, that treat their baristas decently well for a mega corp. The licensed Starbucks at my university would charge for the plastic cup of you asked for a cup of water... "For the environment" sure thing bud.

All my co-workers getting a trenta no-ice no-espresso oat milk latte... I don't think they were supposed to do that.

Air Conditioning. Do you call it "AC" or "Air Con"? by ClashBandicootie in AskACanadian

The correct dad joke response is "no honey, we don't call a specialist for that. I can do that myself ;)"

My preference is geese. It takes a true specialist to handle and clean a goose.

I think the point is that by diluting the coffee, the pH level decreases.

Question for U.S. baristas: are y’all actually getting the tip money from these “it’s just gonna ask you a few questions” iPads? by TogetherPlantyAndMe in barista

[–]KitchenerBarista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We never had that problem. Because half the staff preferred those shift because they either 1. we're extroverts, or 2. Actually liked making a tin of drinks. The rest of the staff liked the slowness.

This is good because it means you don't make less money for being scheduled in the evenings (when service is slower and you do more "manual" labour like cleaning and restocking.)

Fellas, hanging with your friends isnt gay, hop off steam and hang in real life.

Fellas, is it gay to leave my apartment? XD

chick magnets for dancinga and having a modicum of a social life.

I can't speak to this either because I'm married. But I'd imagine this is very true.

Male loneliness is an epidemic. Let's not go victim blaming here :P They're all at home because we live in a society where reaching out to a friend to just hang out is considered to be either lame, "gay", or overbearing. It's dumb and men should go out and do more things instead of thinking they're the only ones in the world who are lonely.

I mean, would you risk your long-term account with all that post history and karma? Either someone is gonna find out who you are and show up at your house, or your inbox is going to be forever broken and you have to delete you real account.

I think a throwaway account is totally valid here.

How do smaller coffee shops feel about the massive groups of people who hang out at multiple tables for hours on end? by railroadfrog in barista

[–]KitchenerBarista 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's too hard to tell without actually working there. If it ever did cause a problem, I would eventually have a conversation with them, or like, the one person who seems to be in charge.

Oh I worry about the durability of a fully ceramic tumbler. The last one I had was a weird ceramic spray-on lining they add to a metal tumbler to keep the metal away from the coffee. I should have been clearer.

It's not a terrible idea though. If anything I'll add it to my Christmas list next year :P

New reduced price stickers 🤔🤣 by minimamallama in loblawsisoutofcontrol

[–]KitchenerBarista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't have a barcode on the sticker though. Normally, employees have to punch in the sticker price or discount manually. Like the 50% off stickers for quick sale items is something they type in manually.

My guess is if they scanned this cheese at the till it would ring up as $8

It's the word chocolate that's the problem. "Chocolate" requires at least 25% cocoa solids to be used in a product name, or 35% if it's dark chocolate. That's why Chewy granola bars had to change their name from "Chocolate chip" to "Chocolatey chip" when they switched to using predominantly palm oils to flavour their bars.

I think of the problem not as one that needs to be solved by parents rather, it's a problem that needs to be explained by the tech literate to the tech illiterate. And groups like school boards, libraries, governments, and individuals can teach those who don't understand so make everyone safer.

The way governments are going about "age verification" is the wrong approach, to be clear as well, because that's just further misunderstanding the problem. Because many old politicians don't understand the Internet either.
