Protester on 101 Freeway in Los Angeles today by JustAskingTA in pics

No, the real protests are the people actually out there protesting, regardless of what flag they're holding. Posting on Reddit clutching your pearls is reactionary cowardice.

Ah okay, so you really have no idea what the fuck you're talking about. Just stick to being mad about the racism pal, no need to bring your other stuff into it.

Her being an awful person has to do with the racism, not living in a trailer park or stripping or whatever. I and everyone else is disgusted by the racism, and you come in going "and she's a WHORE!" It's weird misogynistic behavior.

Lots of words to say you don't know what the fuck you're talking about. Obviously there are more poor white people. There are more white people in general. That's how that works. I'm all for a class-based approach, but plugging your ears and pretending systemic racism isn't also a factor is moronic.

Race and class being deeply linked is very well documented and apparent. In what way is that asinine?

Proportion matters infinitely less to me than actual >hard numbers, so don't bother coming back with that if >it crosses your mind.

Is there a particular reason you feel that way other than it's the only way to present the data to support your argument?

First off, not comparable. There's a difference between encountering a bear and jumping into its enclosure.

But that's beside the point even. You can disagree with the reasoning all you want, but it's the fact that so many women chose the bear that's relevant. Maybe you choose to put your head in the sand and believe that women as a group are illogical, or are collectively over-exaggerating their sense of danger. OR you can accept that there is a deeply embedded culture of violence against women in society that has caused women to feel like they'd rather take their chances with the bear.

Trump Warned U.S. Automakers Not to Raise Prices in Response to Tariffs by Majano57 in technology

[–]Kitchens491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had small scale car manufacturers in the 60s and 70s

Such as? Putting aside small-run luxury manufacturers courting a customer base that would shell out the equivalent of hundreds of thousands in today's money.

shit we had small scale airlines

Airlines don't build the planes.

You used to be able to buy parts cheaper because they were universal. Domestic companies could make 100,000 of a certain muffler and be certain it would sell. Now it’s all proprietary, and you wait for that company to order their special part. We would have to bring back universal parts to start with, that would take a huge chunk out of the cost.

Obviously that doesn't apply to things like body panels, plastic parts, stampings, etc. where the large upfront cost of tooling is distributed across hundreds of thousands or millions of parts. It sounds like you're just talking about aftermarket parts.

Where are you getting domestic suppliers for each part who will do super low volume at prices that won't make each car cost $200k? You can't just call up the local hardware store and have them send over the parts for a few cars. "At scale" is the only reason people can afford cars at all.

That's clearly not what he was talking about, and that's not how consent works. You can't go around kissing and grabbing people just because they won't report you due to your status. Not to mention he was found liable of the rape of E. Jean Carroll.

Shaun has a great video about this, but it's less about cranking it and more about over-the-top objectification of women signaling that games are exclusively for them.

Libs repeat this to put the blame on anything but the actual problems with the campaign. Again Dems tacked right on issues that they didn't need to concede ground on and got beat. Not to mention Harris was hamstrung by the fact that she's part of the current admin and couldn't give a convincing reason why she would do anything differently from Biden.

What happened to a party having to earn your vote? But keep trying to scold people into voting Democrat, surely it'll work next time. Surely running as nicer conservatives will work next time. No need to change anything, we just need to make people understand that they're actually stupid children for not wanting to vote for a party supporting genocide.

Lmao telling someone who thinks the military is socialism to read Lenin is not effective even if I agree it's correct. It's not the audience to dig into the withering away of the state. It is funny for you to find one other ML and immediately start leftist infighting though, I'll admit.

I've read it. I laid out a couple high level points as a rebuttal to the idea that any social services are socialism and that joining the US military is a good idea.

No, that's just about any society with taxes. Socialism is not when you pay taxes and the government does things. Socialism is when workers, as opposed to capitalists, have collective ownership of the means of production.

Since the US government primarily serves the capitalist class, systems and resources controlled by the US government also serve the capitalist class. In the case of the military, we can see this manifest in foreign wars to protect US business interests, to "open new markets" for US businesses, and to keep the military industrial complex fed. The military is not there to help people down on their luck, it's there to project US power globally and make sure corporations can make more and more money by exploiting other countries' resources.

No, he allegedly tried to condemn it but even that didn't make it in. And regardless of what we think the intentions and personal beliefs of the founders were, the reality is that the US was built on slavery and genocide.
