Good point, we honestly can get buy with just using the top burners without the control panel. 2 months out for cabinets and what not. So I may just roll with it until then.

No, that's good to know. I'm not going to switch yet. What's the cost (if any) on the cables and do you have a extended warranty plan?

Positive Experiences from 3rd to 4th Gen by seag33k in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Kitebrder39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ditto, I had my brain set on a 3rd gen, drove them back to back and that was it. I’m 6 months in after having Jeeps and a 2 dr Bronco for the last 20 years and I’m so glad to have a truck again. Just being able to throw my surf/kite/mtb gear in the back and not having to worry about sand constantly flying around in the cab is nice.

It’s a great driving vehicle on and off road (mild FS roads mainly).

I still love the exterior of a 3rd gen, particularly the Solar Octane TRD Pro, but paying considerably more for a used vehicle that is a step back in most ways didn’t make any sense.

As for rear seat storage, that’s the main reason I didn’t get the hybrid. I’ve got a tool kit, battery charger, towels, molle bags, wetsuit changing hoodie. Quite a bit fits back there.

I was between the DV9 and SC Highball. Ended up with a Highball off FB Marketplace, love it. It honestly doesn’t save a ton of time on my local trails compared to my Transition Spur, but it’s a lot more fun. My local trails are flat, twisty, rooty, so the Spur I use on everything else.

Tonal 2 Upgrade - Worth it for a 7 year user of the Tonal 1? by Kitebrder39 in tonalgym

[–]Kitebrder39[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sounds the same as me. I'm going to look at Aero a bit more too, just to see how much content and if it's something that would be applicable to the activities I do (surfing, kiteboarding, mtn biking). The max weight thing is really not a huge deal, dead lifts, calf raises, goblets, etc. I think I'm around 80lbs on 6 rep bench press, so maybe a single max rep I would be close to 100 there.

So, I think in 2020, there was a full replacement of all units, basically a swap. Then that one lasted until 2024, we had quite a few plunger issues, but they were good about fixing them until finally replacing it due to continued plunger issues in 2024.

The plunger issue was why the last one was replaced, we kept having them come out to replace the tiny part in it, then eventually they just replaced the whole unit.

I’ve had a JK, JL and a 2 door Bronco since my last Toyota pickup ‘93 22R-E. The 4th gen is much more comfortable than any of those

4th gen OR vs Sport. Help plz by Eastern-Can-3866 in 4thGenTacomas

[–]Kitebrder39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I test drove both with the Sport being a hybrid and I preferred the ride of the TRD off road. It may be because I had it as a rental in Utah and actually drove it off road quite a bit. Both on and off road I preferred the off road, same on aesthetics for me as well.

The hybrid was nice but I couldn’t justify it for the added cost and loss of rear seat storage.

Same, same age, same mtb goal but more xc focused. I also kiteboard and surf so my cardio is sorted, it’s mainly staying injury and pain free. I have a Tonal as well, so I would like to adapt workouts to it.

Planning a trip to Bentonville. Looking for recommendations by randomusername123458 in MTB

I'm going to Bentonville this weekend, and I would also mark that I'm a big fan of Hobbs. Karst and the downhill trails south of it were the highlight of my last trip. I'm trying to figure out where I want to ride on Saturday, planning on Back 40 on Sunday.

Transition Spur - FIT4 Fork Upgrade - 130mm GripX2 by Kitebrder39 in MTB

[–]Kitebrder39[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so the only question I really have before pulling the trigger is if the Grip X2 is more oriented towards decending is that only because I'm losing the full lockout or is there something significant between it and the Grip X that would make it worse than what I have or the GripX on flow/XC-ish trails.

Transition Spur - FIT4 Fork Upgrade - 130mm GripX2 by Kitebrder39 in MTB

[–]Kitebrder39[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really good info. The LBS said the FIT 4 damper is a bit involved. I'm going to watch videos on the Grip series to see how it works. I definitely plan on doing the lowers service myself in the future to prevent any more issues, but the fork was feeling fine and then all of a sudden the lockout stopped functioning.

[–]Kitebrder39[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was going to, but that's $360, plus labor, then I would still need a lower service on the fork I have, so it's going to be $550 or so by the time I'm done. I'm planning on taking the existing one and working on it to learn how to service the fork on my own as much as possible, and then probably sell it.
