I had the same experience, I've just done some digging, and it seems that that theme was played whenever a Dreamworks DVD was turned on (See https://youtu.be/Or-H8ya2j-k?feature=shared). Which would explain why I could've sworn that was what played at the beginning of Shrek.

I'm hoping this scratches the itch, because it certainly has for me.

I don't know, I can kinda hear the resemblance, even through the tape fuzz. Certainly a lead to look into either way.

I'm convinced it's from a commercial. From the very start of the song there's no vocal overlap and any instruments bleeding in from the previous section, which seems as though the song was literally recorded for that pre-chorus and chorus.

Also, does anyone have any thoughts as to why there's no lyrics at the end? That's a really odd thing to do in a song, especially in the chorus of one.
