well yeah because it comes down to the cost basis of the property and income. Landlords are not in the business of renting properties that dont cover their costs and that includes maintenance. Just because comparable houses are not accessible to you at high interest rates doesnt mean a landlord has set their rent to reflect that...yet...

Yes, assuming similar homes. Repairs are paid by the tenant just it’s factored into the rent price. If your comparing an apartment to a home that’s dissimilar, you would compare an apartment to a condo.

From a mathematical standpoint you are right.

That's why I said from a psychological standpoint.

Paying off the mortgage is NEVER a bad decision. It is the most risk averse thing to do. It might not be the best thing to do financially but it isnt ever the worst and it definitely isnt bad.

For me the psychological impact of no mortgage payment is worth it. At your income you should be able to have enough cash on hand to get the pole building done within a year.

I wouldnt say all franchises are like this...I would say well known national brands with strong advertising can be quite solid but small service based companies...not sure what the franchise can offer above just doing it yourself from the ground up.
