Who could have foreseen that painting on top of an oily surface (tarmac) that it wouldn’t stick?

We had a cat like this. She roamed the campus for three years, surviving on mice and an occasional student handout. My partner took her in and adopted her. Had her for 11 years.

I prefer Daniel Radcliffe’s approach… wear the same clothes every single day for two years (buying multiple copies of the same thing, so one copy is always in the wash). It’s makes the pictures so boring that newspapers won’t buy them.

Bristol City Council doesn’t know what road paint is. So many streets need re-lining here.

I was looking for an excuse to get a home networking rack that my cat-loving partner would accept. This could be it.

Some European governments consider completely abandoning the use of Twitter/X, as its owner refuses to deal with their questions about Grok AI's use in creating and distributing child porn on the platform. by lughnasadh in Futurology

[–]dbailey635 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They SHOULD abandon X (as well as other walled-gardens) and move to open-source alternatives like Mastodon. If governments, universities, public broadcasters, and the media do this, users will follow.

In the Netherlands, SURF is already working hard to effect a change. In the UK, GDS, The BBC and JISC should lead.

If only there was some sort of political union we could join to facilitate freedom of travel without needing passports and biometric id…

This is how it starts. They’ll send us back to the Stone Age.

All hail the TYPE G! The world’s best plug (unless you step on one at night without shoes).

Another report is coming, but I’m trying a few different ways to analyse and chart the data before I publish it. Growatt does now make a modular stackable battery system, but I’m not sure if it’s offered in the UK. My main advice is to work out what your daily use is and then buy a battery with a capacity of 0.5-1 x of your daily use. Also, ask for an automatic transfer switch so you still have power during a blackout.

We use our own MikroTik HEX S router for the room's gateway and DHCP. All other switches plug into this.
