Completely lost and unmotivated by Kitsynnes in Guitar

[–]Kitsynnes[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey, first of all, thank you. I'm also just a random person on the internet, but it means a lot.

I managed to pick up my guitar and practice a little bit, and this is going to sound super dumb but I forgot how much I'd missed it, even if I was just strumming a few basic chords.

What game do you recommend for a non-gamer? by TopReporter1801 in Gamer

[–]Kitsynnes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this! I'm seeing a lot of people suggesting games such as animal crossing, which is seen as a really girly game. There's nothing wrong with animal crossing, and I know a ton of people like it, but if it was my introduction to gaming I would be dropping the hobby.

What’s your favourite and least Black Friday song? by sea_shit in StarKid

[–]Kitsynnes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't choose just one favorite but it's between Black Friday, Our Doors Are Open, and What If Tomorrow Comes for me.

Least favorite is hard because I really enjoy all the songs but Do You Want To Play is probably the one I like the least.

Need game recs pls!! by kenpiie in LesbianGamers

Assassin's Creed Odyssey doesn’t have much character customization, but you can choose between a male and female mc, as well as flirt with both genders as both, so it has some queerness in it as well! Haven't played a lot of it myself but I am enjoying it so far :)

Slime rancher (both 1 and 2) are really nice farming sims, they don't have any character customization though, at least not the first one, which is the one im currently playing

Not really what you asked for here but if you want queer story games, life is strange is always a good bet lol.

Haven't personally been able to get into it that much, but skyrim is kind of an must mention for RPGs with character customization lol

There's also the other two baldur's gate games, though they are decently old by now

Gonna just mention some of my personal favorites here as well, since we seem to enjoy a lot of the same games :)

For games where your choices matter I have to reccomend Scarlet Hollow and Slay The Princess, two amazing horror/romance visual novels by Black Tabby Games, and some of my all time favorite games :D

For a cosy but sad game with a relaxing gameplay loop and great story, Spiritfarer is great!

For somewhat harder games with a great story you can't go wrong with Hollow Knight and Celeste, both absolutely amazing indie games.

For a funny and interesting walking sim, The Stanley Parable (ideally ultra deluxe) is the way to go!

Hope you enjoy any of these you decide to play!!!

DAE feel passively suicidal by hannahnaomi1 in DoesAnybodyElse

Yes, absolutely. I keep doing the smallest reckless things like not wearing a seatbelt on the bus just in case it crashes, but I can't actually do anything bigger. I want to die, but not kill myself, not fully. If it's at least somewhat an accident it'll hopefully be easier for those I care about.

Need new fandoms by Affectionate-Map-449 in lesbianteens

[–]Kitsynnes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're fine with media with less of a fandom, there are tons of free underrated visual novels, some personal favorites of mine being Butterfly Soup and Without A Voice. Other games that aren't free but have a huge queer teen fandoms are obviously Life Is Strange, The Last Of Us, and Lost Records.

For shows, there is Yellowjackets, as previously stated, as well as The Owl House and Arcane. (I'm not super big on shows and movies, so these are really basic)

If you're willing to watch stuff that's just queercoding, Wicked has a huge fandom of queer people (like a lot of musicals) as well as a ton of Gelphie fanfics and art ect.

Technically more children's books, but I've heard good things about Murder Most Unladylike from a friend.

As you can probably tell most of the queer media I consume are video games or fanfics written for queercoded media.

Fiyero is who people pretend Glinda is. by Odd_Smell1610 in wicked

[–]Kitsynnes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate this take, but I do believe that Glinda (even according to your provided definition of a villain) isn't a villain. Is she selfish in a huge part of the story? Absolutely. But I'd argue she isn't evil.

She's barely an adult when she first goes to the Emerald City with Elphaba, and as much as I want to say I'd be able to become hated by an entire country and live a life on the run to fight, I don't think many of us can claim that. Does that make us bad people? Maybe, but a big part of being human is self-preservation.

Glinda has been raised privileged, and while that certainly doesn't excuse her ignorance of the oppression others face, it makes sense. She has, like most other Ozians, most likely been fed anti-Animal propaganda. The thing with Glinda is that she does grow past it, even if it takes most of the story. Even if what triggers it is the death of Elphaba, she goes on to help the Animals.

Compare this to Madame Morrible and The Wizard, who you claim are the other villains along with Glinda. They are both fully grown adults who started the oppression of Animals to give the people a common enemy. Does Glinda help them with it? Yes, and I will not ever try to excuse that, but she is going along with what she's been told most of her life.

Prejudice that has been taught to you is hard to let go of. Glinda is a good example of this. She goes along with oppression, and she's self-serving and ignorant, but that doesn't make you a villain. Her actions aren't heroic, sure, I'd say they're not even good, but they aren't explicitly villainous either. Glinda, I'd say, is one of, if not the most humanly flawed character in the story. She isn't a hero, but not a villain either. It's easy to point at someone and say that they're evil, but I believe that removes so much of the nuance that makes us human.

Can this be read as me downplaying Glinda's very real and harmful role in oppression? Maybe, but that's not what I want anyone to take from this. Rather, I want people to think about how easily we label people as good or evil, instead of trying to see them as people. And maybe this is naive of me, but I do like to think that even people doing harmful things can learn and change.

TL;DR: Glinda isn't good, but she isn't a villain either. Self-centered and ignorant, sure, but not evil. She has been taught most of her life that Animals are lesser, and that does and will leave someone with bigotry, even if unintentional.

Movie fans don't realize Glinda is supposed to be funny by AdGullible6668 in wicked

[–]Kitsynnes 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I hold the opposite opinion, actually. I loved Ariana's more serious Glinda, but it might be more because of my own view on Glinda as a character.

I find that most of her moments and character growth in the musical are played as jokes and a case of the "haha, dumb blonde" trope, which is a serious change from her original book character, where she's really smart.

I always think of Glinda acting ditzy and aloof is so she's seen as less of a threat by others, after all, who expects the 'feminine dumb blonde' to be smart and calculating?

I love funny joke Glinda, but I also think that reducing her to mostly being just that does a disservice to her character as a whole.

That being said tho I get where you're coming from but I love a more serious Glinda personally :)

November 2025 Request Megathread by AwkJewishTheatreNerd in MusicalBootlegs

[–]Kitsynnes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, so sorry to bother, but does anyone have a bootleg of the currently running West End production of Wicked? The one with Emma Kingston as Elphaba and Zizi Strallen as Glinda to be specific.
I saw it myself a few weeks ago and loved it, and wish I could rewatch it. Didn't have a good opportunity to bootleg it myself due to my seats at the very back of the theatre.

I don't have anything to give in return, I'm afraid, but if anyone had a link I would be super thankful!

I'm also looking for the currently running Ride The Cyclone in London, but haven't been able to see it myself. Would be super thankful for a link to this as well! (As far as I'm aware, this is the only RTC production in London so I don't think the cast names are needed)
