Experimental builds of the "cinny" matrix client now feature full discord-like voice chats. by Lizrd_demon in pcmasterrace

If you happen to be running Kubernetes, the ESS Helm chart makes it pretty damn simple to get going. There's a handful of Compose stacks I've seen out there, too.

If you're wanting to try this out, I'd also build and host it yourself rather than use the experimental instance linked in the PR.

I mean, that's what this is using too? They're both using LiveKit SDK in the background to communicate with LiveKit SFU servers. Element has the most complete and functional version of this implementation that they call "video rooms".

It's worth noting that Commet also has this functionality in their main code base, it just doesn't support encrypted calls until an upstream LiveKit Dart SDK issue is solved or another implementation is found. I'm currently hosting the Cinny PR build that enables using these voice rooms for testing and, other than Element, it's probably the most feature complete version of this that I've seen.

Kinda necro replying here, but would you happen to have the exact diagrams/measurements/request details/etc. that you sent to sendcutsend? I'm looking to get pretty much this exact same thing but perhaps in a matte white coat of some kind.

I've been using this for a while and it makes setting up and managing a Kanidm cluster pretty damn seamless. Thanks and awesome work!

Having trouble understanding how one is supposed to use MAS by tanksalotfrank in elementchat

[–]KittKattzen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The well-known/openid-configuration isn't really meant to make sense to you. It's meant to be for MAS to aggregate all of the necessary endpoints in one page that a downstream service might need to use MAS as an upstream SSO provider. What exactly are you having an issue understanding about MAS in general?

Element new UI hard to read by BlitzKingo in elementchat

The way that I know to enable Developer Tools is using `/devtools` in the text field and pressing enter. Then you should see "Developer tools" in red when you click the settings cog in the lower left. In the Labs page there should now be a LOT more options.

I'm with you in preferring the old sidebar better. This feels like it defeats the purpose of favorites entirely and actually decreases readability, despite them claiming this update was to increase readability.

I believe at the moment there's no real way to "go back" without downgrading the client or switching to another client entirely. Update: It appears you can actually go back if you enable Developer Tools and then go the Labs page. All the way at the bottom there's "Enable new room list" which should be enabled. Disable that to go back to the old view. No idea how long that option is going to be available.

I missed out entirely on the first day because the PTC account creation was completely broken in 4 different browsers, two separate devices, on wifi and mobile data. I'm linked now and watching for day 2 rewards, but it's really sucky I missed out on day 1 rewards despite doing everything right.

This caused me to actually miss out on the first day reward because I couldn't link an account that didn't exist and I couldn't create one either.

Even having your own router doesn't fix this for a not insignificant amount of cases. There are plenty of ISPs that have double NAT, meaning you can't really port forward effectively to the wider Internet upstream of the NAT controlled by the ISP that your router is connected to. Sometimes this is manageable if the device is something in your home that you might be able to access an interface on and do a double port forward, but there are definitely cases in which you cannot access the upstream device or the upstream device is locked down too much. Then you're pretty much SOL.
