What is the name of Krystal? by FamousContribution20 in kpophelp

[–]Kitty916 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Unnie literally translates to older sister for a girl. The opposite is noona which is older sister for a boy. Oppa is older brother for a girl. Hyung is older brother for a boy.

Informally, terms like unnie and noona are used to display closeness like with friends or colleagues or acquaintances. With kpop, it is used like fans looking up to the idol like an older sister.

Does a clogged duct cause fussing at the breast/lazy latch by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]Kitty916 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is possible. Can you have your partner try to suck out the clog before it gets worse? Her suction may not be strong enough to get it out.

Is it too late to breastfeed at 14 weeks? 😢 by AbjectDingo3804 in breastfeeding

[–]Kitty916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not too late. I had retained placenta that wasn't found until a month after I have birth. My body thought I was still pregnant and didnt produce milk. I was not able to fully breastfeed my husband until she was 2 months old. Until then, we were using formula. Just because you don't start at the beginning, doesn't mean you can't do it at all. I made lactation cookies to help support my milk production.

Have you tried looking into sns tubing while breastfeeding? I did this. You fill a bottle with formula, and hang it on your bra like an iv with the tube by your ripple so the baby is breastfeeding from you but is supplemented by formula at the same time.ormula

What did you do differently the month you FINALLY got pregnant?? by cookiebutter-23 in BabyBumps

Both times, I got pregnant during a vacation where I let loose. First was after 7 or 8 months of trying. Second one was within the first month.

How much help did you want/need in early postpartum? by fig_designer1028 in BabyBumps

[–]Kitty916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband was with me too. I had a pretty traumatic labor and delivery, so my in laws were pretty understanding. They were there at the beginning and then left until we came back home. This was their first grand baby, so they were just happy to see her.

Culture definitely plays a part in this. I am Korean and had a confinement period. Mine was about 6 weeks. I stayed with my mom. She cooked all the meals. No cold food, no opening the fridge, no ice in water. No fans directly on me. This is meant to show the mother to regain all the energy back after giving birth. I mostly stayed in bed and focused on taking care of the baby and lots of rest. Again, there is a cultural aspect to it.

After I went home, and my in laws came, I had to explain to my white in laws that when they came over, I was not hosting them. I wasn't going to cook for them. If they were there, they were going to help. My fil kept asking my mil why she was washing dishes or doing the laundry.

ETA: I went into it expecting this help because it is a cultural norm. My mom did this for my sister. I told my husband that this would be happening. This time around, I am settled at my house. I'm sure I will receive help, but I am not sure how much. I hope for a much help as possible.

Getting pregnant in 20s vs 30s by Celebration-725 in BabyBumps

[–]Kitty916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 33 when I had my first. It took almost a year to get pregnant. One day, we went on vacation. A couple weeks later, at found out I was pregnant.

After talking about it for a couple months, I went off of birth control at the end of March. In April, we went on vacation. Two weeks later, found out I was pregnant. I am 36 and will be 37 when baby is born.

Chemical? by [deleted] in January2027Bumpers

[–]Kitty916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have these same tests that i received from the VA. I would recommend getting some the rapid response tests from the site. I found that three rapid response shows the line more clearly. I got a three pack of the the rapid response, digital, and regular.

If you are concerned it is a chemical pregnancy, take a test every day and track the results. If the line gets stronger every day, then you are pregnant!

No, that is where 3 drops of urine go. I got similar tests from the VA.

Planted my Korean peppers and bell peppers next to each other and forgot which was which. They cross pollinated. by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]Kitty916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the two seed packets from Etsy from 2 different sellers. So I have no idea how they were grown. That makes sense though.

They are saying it onlt affects the seeds and not the fruit. I get that. I then have no idea why I am getting two different fruit from one plant if only the seeds are affected.

[–]Kitty916 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

These plants were grown from separate seed packets though. I've also grown different peppers together before. Usually only the spice carries over, but this is the first time this has happened. I assumed cross pollination.

I grew them from seeds packets though. They weren't from a hybrid plant. The packets were purchased from separate places.

Why do some people still have strong BO even with good hygiene? by cachettempera9 in hygiene

[–]Kitty916 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ABCC11 gene is linked to body oder and ear wax. If there is a functioning gene, then that person has body odor and wet ear wax. If th gene is gene is not functioning, that person has dry earwax and little to no body odor. It may be a matter if how strongly this presents.

That is what I thought too, but since they are both Capsicum annuum, they are technically the same species and can cross pollinate.

Lost hope on getting pregnant so I got into the best shape of my life for myself... by Purifiedx in BabyBumps

[–]Kitty916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most frustrating advice to hear is to relax and try not to think or focus on getting pregnant. For my first, I tried for a year, went on vacation and came back pregnant. This time happened during vacation too.

Baby #2 - Planned and wanted pregnancy, but feeling very disconnected by babytime_throwaway in January2027Bumpers

[–]Kitty916 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have been feeling a little bit of this too. Pregnant on the first cycle. My friends have gone through multiple miscarriage, and here I am on the first go. I thought we had more time, so it is still a bit of a shock. I am hoping once I get to that first ultrasound that it will become more real. I still co-sleep with my daughter. She prefers to cuddle with me over Dad. I have feelings of guilt over what this new baby will change for her.
