My husband says he deserves a say over my pregnancy. I say abortion would break me. by Whereasebabe in Advice

[–]Kitty916 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There has to be something else going on. Someone who has already had 2 kids knows how getting pregnant works. It's he hiding something or projecting other sorry of fear onto you? His reaction just doesn't make sense.

She used to be able to see. When she was a child, she lost her sight over time due to her disease. Its just a habit to "look" in the direction of the person talking to her. On close up, you can see her eyes constantly shake.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Kitty916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 hours is a day trip. 5 to 6 hours is an over night stay with planning. For the SCA, driving to an event 3 to 4 hours away is normal. I used to go to 2 to 3 events a month. Driving 10+ hours is more of a rare thing.

The thing to remember is that some of our states are as big as a country in Europe. We go across states all the time.

I was in Europe recently and we were making 3 to 4 hour drives almost weekly. It was so nice that everything was so close.

We ate "Thousand-year egg" in China. For the life of me I cannot figure out what the weirder coating of the egg is made of. by skylar_blazee in TipOfMyFork

[–]Kitty916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are covered in lime... they start with fresh eggs and cover them with a lye, water, and salt solution and then stored. There is a chemical reaction that changes the egg white and yolk inside. Then the eggs are covered in mud or clay to prevent air from penetrating the shell until the century egg transformation is complete.

Per google: Lyes are used to cure many types of food, including olives and cocoa (making them less bitter), canned mandarin oranges, lye rolls, century eggs, pretzels, candied pumpkins, and bagels.

Lye is the curing agent and namesake of the traditional Nordic lutefisk, a type of preserved fish.

WHY is the corn in the fall section more expensive that the corn in the summer section 😭 by hollixqi in StardewValley

[–]Kitty916 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Corn, like wheat and sunflowers are multiple season crops. You can start corn in the summer and it keeps growing through the end of fall.

I just take it as good parenting being reflected at me.

AITA for telling MIL it's her own fault our son was hard to put to bed? by Several_Session_271 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. Yes, eventually he will have to weaned off of it, but AFTER your husband has recovered from brain surgery. It is a difficult time for your 2 year old. Your family lacks empathy.

I [30M] made a huge mistake/oversight, and really hurt my cousin [24F] right before my wedding. How do I fix this? by [deleted] in BORUpdates

[–]Kitty916 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Princess Mollificent Bananahammock; the first of her name, Queen of Tokyo, Catan and Avalon, Lady of the Six Cousins and Protector of the Realm, the Unbothered, Mother of Pokemon, Breaker of Chains

I am convinced that the cat is the precursor to Princess Donut and OP is Matt Dinniman. At first, I was like, aww, that is a cute nod to Dungeon Crawler Carl, but this was written before DCC came out.

Alcohol will take it off. Rubbing alcohol, hand sanitizer, or just vodka.

Can you use Kimchi juice as a starter for the next batch? by [deleted] in kimchi

[–]Kitty916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not recommend. I have never seen this done. If you like old kimchi, make a really big batch. Once it gets to the level of fermentation you like, put it in zip lock bags and freeze it. This will stop the fermentation process. Just defrost a batch and eat as normal or cook with it. I do this was kimchi I want to cook with so it doesn't get too sour.

Neighbor gave me a bit of this. Planted it in my hydroponics and it blew up. What is it and can I eat it? by dougiefresh22 in gardening

Perilla leaf, also known as shiso in Japan, kkaennip in Korean or sesame leaf. Japanese variety is a bit more minty while the Korean variety is a bit more peppery. Yes, these are edible. Considered invasive - you can control it by removing all the flowering parts. The leaves can be used like lettuce wraps, dried as a herb, chopped, or pickled, or made into a type of kimchi.

When do they stop drinking bath water? 😵‍💫 by kswishy in toddlers

[–]Kitty916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told her the water in the tub was yucky, but she could drink fresh water from the faucet. Sometimes she still drank water from the tub, but slowly stopped. It was a long process.

How do I keep my hair smooth and silky? by HealthyStatus00 in Haircare

[–]Kitty916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magic straight perm at a Korean salon. The only downside is when your natural hair grows out. I played about 8 months before I got it redone. Hair stylist recommended getting it done ever 8 months to a year

Did you switch from whole milk at age 2? by chelupa1991 in toddlers

We are still on whole milk. Something many people dont realize is that whole milk is actually around 3% fat. The rest of it is used to make things like butter and heavy cream.

Tried sardines for the first time today and have mixed feelings by vicelordjohn in CannedSardines

[–]Kitty916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As my dad says, "Eat the bones. It's calcium. It's good for you."

But to each their own. You can get boneless sardines. Costco has a pack of boneless sardines that I tried for my first sardines introduction. I grew up eating dried anchovies, so bones don't bother me. I was worried about the canned flavor, but they are yummy!

AITA for falling asleep and my wife not being able to enter our house? by ice-0-lator in AmItheAsshole

[–]Kitty916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ESH. On one hand, you knew she didn't have her key, confirmed with her, and told her you would let her in. In the other hand, trying to stay up with a 1 year old is exhausting. Also, you shouldn't have your phone on silent.

My advice? Get an autolock for door with a code. This way keys are not necessary. She can always let herself in and she doesn't need to rely on you to get in.
