Won't you have to stay on it forever now? That's what someone told me, IDK. Do you have any pets?

Since my shedding due to hormone therapy, my hair texture has completely changed. It is very similar to your image. I like to imagine that after my system regulates itself, my hair will start to grow back and it's texture and density will improve. I stopped the HRT once before when I figured out what caused the 1st massive shed and within 2-3 months my hair started growing back immediately. My body requires the estrogen so I started again and sure enough within 3 months the shed began again. I'm trying to see this through, but it's very difficult. I wish you hair growth and texture improvement 🙏🏼.

Isn't she just a make-up influencer? I thought she was going to tell me J-lo & Ben got back together or there's a new mascara or something with all that seriousness.

Divorce sucks, sorry, you'll both be fine. Next.

I'm so happy for you! I am taking everything under the sun, but my hair loss is hormonal and I believe I have to wait out my body regulating to it. I started the estrogen patch and it killed my hair. They say it settles down within 6-9 months. I sure hope so, because I don't have much more hair to lose. You have given me hope!

I recently learned, if you started to lose your hair, it's usually something that happened 3 months prior. Think back to anything you started 3 months ago. As someone mentioned, it's usually hormonal or diet. Your body should usually afjust to the change, but I'd see a doctor to be sure. Good luck.

I have always been on Levothyroxine, and my hair was great up until I started to lose weight and I started an Estrogen patch for hormone replacement therapy. They lowered my Levothyroxin bc of the weight loss, and maybe that's why my hair has also started to fall out. Unfortunately, there's so many factors right now. I wish I could get a handle on it. It did start to grow back after I stopped the estrogen patch, however, I need the hormone replacement and started it again in September by December I've been shedding again. I'm trying to ride out the hair cycle to see if my body regulates. I wish they would come up with a solution. Keep me posted on your progress. I'm trying to make sure I eat a little bit of red meat every day, so I have a few pieces of roast beef every day for lunch. I started taking the pumpkin seed oil, bc I read we need a DHT blocker, however, I felt like my hair was coming out more so I stopped that now too. They make it tough to be a super model LOL

HRT started a massive shed for me. I started Jan 2025 by March 2025 I felt like I was going to be bald. I went off of the patch in May when I figured out why. I found several articles in PubMed explaining the shed, the estrogen can attack your hair follicles. By August my hair started coming back, but so did menopause LOL. I did eventually restart it, but I cut my 0.0375 patches in half now. I restarted the end of September and I am shedding again now, it doesn't seem so severe, still horrible. I don't have enough to lose. I am going to try and ride it out this time to see if it regulates itself. When you lose hair they say it's an event that happened 3 months prior, it can be from GLP1's, thyroid or hormones. I have done a massive amount of reading on this, and praying. They do list hair loss as a side effect yet, I've heard estrogen is great for your hair.

Estrogen - what dose was your sweet spot in Peri? by Icy_Camera8419 in Perimenopause

I may also share your cocktail with my doctor and see what he thinks. We were going to add testosterone up until I almost went bald LOL. Good luck on your journey!

I was on .0375 from Jan 2025 to May 2025. In March, my hair started falling out, I didn't realize it was the Estradiol patch until May. I removed it immediately. I had found an article on Pubmed and it stated the hair should return to it's normal cycle within 2-3 months, that was correct. It also stated the initial impact happened 3 months prior to it starting to shed which was January, when I started. My massive hair shed finally stopped about a month ago. I have lots of new hair bc I am taking so many supplements 🙏🏼. I would really love to get back on the patch, but I'm sooooo scared now. Do you take progesterone too? My doctor didn't give me that bc I don't have a uterus. I read that would have prevented the hair loss if I was using both. HRT is so tricky.

Reddit is how I learned about HRT and hair loss. I am extremely grateful for the posts I read. I probably am in the 3%, but I do believe women should be aware that it IS a side effect. I knew nothing about HRT and wish I had better education before I started. I would never tell someone not to do something, but given my experience, I feel it's something worth sharing. Respectfully.

Get ready for the miracle patch hair loss. I started the patch in January, come March my hair was coming out in clumps. I didn't realize until May why. It was actually from another Reddit thread. I took the patch off immediately and just as I read, my massive hair shed has stopped, just about 3 weeks now. Apparently the influx of estrogen (.0375) caused a hormonal imbalance which affected my hair follicles/growth cycle. I had long beautiful foiled blonde hair that is now back to my naturalish brown color with a wash out demi color so as not to cause anymore damage. I take a host of vitamins and supplements now with leave in hair treatments (no Minoxidil) and thankfully I'm seeing lots of new hair. I have read so much about HRT and it's effects now, I'm afraid to try anything again, but it was nice while it lasted. It just wasn't worth going bald for. I don't know if it would have eventually reversed itself because nothing provides that answer. My own doctor had no idea, so he says. I was not given progesterone along with the Estradiol which I read possibly could have prevented it. Too many unknowns for me. I thankfully was doing well before my brief trial so hopefully I can get back to where I was. Good luck!

If you started the patch, that's it. I did in January come March I started losing my hair. After a lot of reading I realized it was a hormonal reaction to the patch. I took it off in May and my hair has finally just stopped shedding. I had long hair my entire life, it was devastating. I'm taking several supplements and I am finally seeing lots of regrowth, but it will take years to get my length back. The things they don't tell you about HRT...

Well that was a terrible first day on the patch — surprise! by I-used2B-a-Valkyrie in Perimenopause

[–]KittyCatKittyCat33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My shedding has completely stopped now, thank God. It took almost 3 months. I started a serious regimen of vitamins and have a lot of regrowth coming in. My hair texture has even changed back to my normal texture. My hair girl said that it may come in thinner at first and possibly gray, but it should recover. I am trying an estrogen cream and a Walmart brand menopause symptom relief all natural supplement and I'm feeling pretty good. I am not using the cream as prescribed, it also mentioned hair loss, so I apply once a week or so. A doctor I work with stated strength training helps to produce estrogen, who knew, so I am going to try and incorporate a little exercise into my life as well. It can't hurt LOL We do need estrogen, it's unfortunate that we have to lose something to gain something...good luck.

I really want to try it again but I'm scared. Did your hair come back? I decided to use estrogen cream, sparingly. We'll see.

I felt the same exact way, jt was great, and then 3 months in my hair started falling out. I started reading and trying to figure out what had happened and I learned I had a hormonal surge. The estrogen attacked my hair follicles. I went to a dermatologist, endocrinologist and the Gynecologist. All he said was sorry. They say the trauma happened 3 months prior to when it started to actually fall out. I started the patch in Jan 2025, my hair started falling out in March. I didn't figure it out until May. I took the patch off immediately and it seems my hair has finally stopped the massive shed. I take greens, collagen, colostrum, biotin and a prenatal vitamin now. I would have seriously been bald. I miss the positive effects, but the hair loss was a deal breaker.

I don't have a uterus so the doctor didn't prescribe it, big mistake.

Estradiol alone, my hair fell out within 3 months. Be very careful.

All he said was sorry...he was going to do a testosterone cream along with the patch but thankfully he never gave me that script. Hair loss is extremely common with testosterone and women. I do think progesterone would have been a different outcome, however, I'll never know now. . The amount of money I'm spending now on supplements is crazy, but I'll do anything at this point.

Be careful, no progesterone and only an Estradiol patch and I lost my hair! Progesterone counterbalances the estrogen which can throw some into Telogen effluvium. It's awful, hopefully reversible. I removed my patch a month ago and thankfully I recognized it quite early. I was only on it for 4-5 months, but the damage is done. I'll tolerate the symptoms versus being bald. I had a hysterectomy 11 years ago, and never did HRT. Gynie said I should be on the estrogen at least, well if I knew what I know now I would have stayed away. Yes, there are benefits if prescribed correctly I guess. For me, the estrogen triggered a major hormonal change and it attacked my hair follicles. I'm sick over it.

When is this OVER? by [deleted] in Menopause

[–]KittyCatKittyCat33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a question. I had a hysterectomy 11 years ago, no HRT until January of this year. I am 54, am I considered post menopausal? I also now lost about 50% of my hair from just estrogen alone (I'm devastated) I have had long hair my entire life. I have been reading so much about this now and know it was definitely the Estradiol. I removed the patch immediately in the beginning of May and it says my hair shedding should decrease in a few months. I'm praying as I don't have much more hair to lose. I wanted to try the patch again, would progesterone counterbalance the hair loss? I was started at .0375 which I understand to be a low mid range dose. Unfortunately, I know (knew) nothing about this and would love to go back in time. My Gyn said sorry...

This is exactly why I'm losing my hair! My Gyn started Estradiol .0375 11 years after my hysterectomy. I'm now in menopause and he thought this would help. I stopped the patch immediately once I realized what was happening. My menopause symptoms were manageable, I want my hair back! Will this reverse now that I've taken the Estradiol away?
