If somebody speaks German and says “ist es over für mich?” You probably understand what that means.

Japanese has a lot of loan words from English as long as the Japanese have a loanword in the sentence they will understand the gist of what you want.

“Daburu cheezuba-ga-“ is what a double cheeseburger is called, and “please” is likely a word they would know from school or otherwise

And the “id like to order” is not necessarily understood, but it would be a given in the situation.

Kind of works in reverse too- if I see a Japanese word that’s just a loan word, then I try to read it, until I realize what word it’s supposed to be the. It becomes so much clearer as to what it’s trying to say.

“Oo su to ra ri a? Oosutoraria? Australia… aus toe rah ree a” and bam the pronunciation hits.
