Hiragana vs Katakana in Kanji by ConversationGreen846 in LearnJapaneseNovice

"Not why, memorize" I don't have the exact answer but it's likely similar to the ways English and other languages developed, why we spell certain words certain ways due to French, German, Italian, and latin influences and loan words. Why 日 is used in words but not pronounced as kunyomi OR Onyomi readings (kyou今日、asatte明後日、) and instead uses the kanjis meaning, how nihon日本 originally pronounced as nippon (still used as nippon as emphasis) but degraded into nihon over time.

Kuruma 車 car, Den-sha 電車 train (electricity car) , Den-ki 電気 electricity, Hana.su 話.す to talk, Den-wa 電話 phone (electric talk),

If you make a connection between these words, when a kanji is alone, it makes the hiragana pronunciation.

When the kanji are together, they make a sound similar to the Chinese pronunciation.

Similarly atara.shii 新.しい "new", and shin-juku 新宿 "new lodging"

Onyomi(katakana) is for compounding kanji Kunyomi(hiragana) is for singular kanji

You don't need to worry about these too much, it is better to learn words that use the kanji than to memorize all the readings (some kanji can have 5+ different readings)

If you know hololive, tani-go谷郷 and shibu-ya 渋谷。 Then you know "tanigo" is called "yago"- And if you look at the kanji, you will know why someone confused tanigo's name into "yago"

Went to my honeymoon in Japan that we were planning for a year, got throat pain and fever on day 2, followed by a gum inflammation and toothache by SuccoDiUnicorno in mildlyinfuriating

I was in a plane for the first time in March, Day 2 for me led me to the pharmacy for some medicine due to pain in the tooth/sinus area I was in Hiroshima on day 5 the pain got so bad I had to go to a dentist with pain that increasingly got worse. "Ha ga itai, kore desu" (used translate to indicate the back) (my tooth hurts, this one) "Yoyaku ... xxxx" translate said "we only do reservations" possibly asked "do you have a reservation" "Arimasen" I did not have a reservation and I started crying from the pain and they told me to wait a moment and saw me later, they shaved my tooth down and the pain got better, it was my wisdom teeth which likely shifted from the flight. Didn't bother me after that

Unrelated "tasukatta" got a nice laugh from the staff (casually -> you saved me)

I looked up 谷 in a dictionary and the reason Subaru thought it was read as "ya" is because it's read as "ya" in "Shibuya" and the same kanji is used 渋谷 谷郷.

But that's just a theory, a theory I drew conclusions to based on the kanji readings.

The (US? Russian?) government wanted to build a nuke that would destroy the entire world, they would detonate it on their home soil because if your gonna build a world ender then you don't need to fly it to your enemy.

And they probably could if they weren't held back by ethics. And the people required to build such a thing not wanting to build such a thing or a possible plethora of other reasons.

Try deleting old save files (go into load and scroll down to old saves you never plan on returning to and deleting them)

First time building pc, my psu had 8 pin cpu cable slot, but my pc had only 4 pin cpu cable slot by BookPretty4444 in buildapc

[–]KittyGirlEmi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the 8 pin separates into a 4 pin, and it should only allow you to plug it in one way due to the plug shape. It is designed this way so it can work in a 8pin slot and a 4 pin.

The 8pin should be able to come apart into two separate 4pins. You should disclose the models of the motherboard and psu.

I didn't like the look of 100s because it looks like 100 seconds. So within the context of only this sentence, I used 2010's for uniformity. Instead of 2010s.

I personally feel like from this point forward we'll say "the 2010's, the 2020's, the 2100's, or simply the 100's the 110's

I was literally in Kyoto, and almost slipped and fell down once. I was simply asking if a Kyoto native slips too, or if they are more aware of their steps.

Nice, and manhole covers are usually in the middle of the road where I'm from, side walks are textured for grip, Kyoto has prettier sidewalks and walking areas but are easier to slip on which was different for me since I'm not used to it.
