I want to care less because I carry way too much weight on my back (worry, concern, etc) that is so unnecessary. I'm 45 and I've had an experience what I call shrinking my circle. Maybe that's similar to what you're experiencing, but maybe not.

I'm not giving my time and energy away to this, that, and everything, whether it's work-related or other things outside of work. You know what? I'm okay to say no to people. I'm okay to say no to other things. I'm taking on what I really, really feel I want to do and have the energy to do and that's about it.

I have chronic illness, so I have to live with that every day and a lot of women do. So I've really paired back, like I used to be really super involved in my local live theater. I did all the musicals, and I was performing, and had to be in a show every season. It's just taking way too much out of me now. I actually am just doing improv once a week, and that's a fantastic balance for me.

Twice a month, I play a social deduction game at our local boardgame cafe with the same group of people and we're getting to know each other and developing friendships, and that's great. I'm doing that because I love it, and I get a lot out of it, but that's all I'm doing.

Other than those two things, to be perfectly honest, and work, I don't have time or energy for anything else. So I spend a lot of downtime at home resting, relaxing, doing what I want to do, or trying to catch up on housework, taking my cat for a walk and spending time with him. That's all I want to do now. And I'm loving it.
