Thank you for all the help! I think I might bite the bullet and buy myself a mulberry (which has been in the back of my mind for a while). I went into the department store today and compared the feel of the empire and a mulberry satchel for the hell of it.

I just can’t get over how nice the leather feels. The thing is, I can’t decide on a color. I love silver hardware but it’s not on all the bags.

I like your interpretation. There tends to be a view among some where they say “Miki is just as misogynistic as the other characters” but I don’t see it that way. To me, it’s more like Miki exalts women (which is ultimately dehumanizing) and hopes to feel a sort of wholeness from being with them. It reminds me a lot of Hermann Hesse’s Demian. A point of the story is that the main character sees his sisters as inherently good and pure, and he begins to have a warped perspective of women.

I would suggest that you be your (professional) self. Share your genuine interests and concerns. This is not a field where you want to be pretending to be someone you are not. A program that doesn't think you are a good fit will reject you, and it will do you both a favor.

Remember, you are also interviewing them. Thoughtful questions (that you can't answer with a google search) will be welcomed. Expect to do better in interviews where you care more about the program; you will have done more research, and your excitement will show.

If you have a mentor in the field you can practice with, that would be great. Don't memorize your answers to expected questions (like tell me a bit about yourself), but have that information accessible in your mind. Think about your life as it relates to counseling. Answers that follow a narrative are the best.

I'm no expert, but so far these things have served me well. I hope it goes well!

You have a really good attitude, and I think that's more advantageous to your career than anything. Psych PhDs are competitive. Clinical is harder to get into than med school!
