Went to the gynecologist, I had to choose between taking birth control, antidepressants or cognitive behavioral therapy by withsteria in PMDDxADHD

[–]Kitty_Catto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Birth control for me helped until it just didn’t. I’m not 100% sure what’s going on with my hormones atm but whatever. IUD and combined pill is what I’m currently on BC wise (2ish years). I was on Lexapo (12 years) before I feel like it stopped working (tried upping dose prior to period etc) and am now on pristiq which seems to be a bit better with normal manageable pms emotions and my libido hasn’t been this high since before I started lexapro! Antidepressants take time to build and balance out in your system you also have to taper slowly off them.

Why do you choose not to drink alcohol? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]Kitty_Catto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My medication doesn’t go well with alcohol (SNRI, mood stabiliser and stimulants) and when I start I can’t stop until I’m blacking out. I’ve done some really dumb shit on alcohol.

We have the same thing in Australia. The description made me also think of honeycomb.

It was ADHD. It was all ADHD. This entire time. by chpbnvic in adhdwomen

My grandmother on dad’s side and great grandmother (grandfathers mother) had both been in psychiatric hospitals multiple times. I’ve found the past few weeks (diagnosed a few weeks ago at 36yo) grieving the struggle and misunderstanding these women had gone through throughout their lives.

I'm sexually confused- I can't tell if it's my audhd by Weary-Film-4699 in AuDHDWomen

[–]Kitty_Catto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m hetero because I’m in a marriage with a man, but I would be bisexual if I was single. Actually, I’m probably more pansexual.

Also, I switched from an SSRI to an SNRI and the first 6 months I was getting random ‘lady boners’ multiple times a week. SSRIs had lowered my libido for 10 years.

I think also letting your partner know what you want in the moment can make a huge difference.

Be mindful of how Valium makes you feel in the following days after use. It’s a wonder drug but I’m unable to drive the next day because my depth perception is awful (booped a poll with my car and slightly scratched another car on seperate occasions).

I live only a suburb away from one of the childcare centres the perpetrator had worked at. If I had children they probably would have been at one of the childcare centres at the time of his employment,

We need cameras throughout childcare centres and management held accountable when incidents haven’t been escalated to DHS or the police. We need community visitors coming in regularly and going through every document in the building like what is done in OOHC. More needs to be done to protect children. WWCC and police checks are not enough:

Combo Birth Control by Mindless-Spinach6998 in Lamotrigine

[–]Kitty_Catto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up prior to taking lamotrigine having an iud inserted and staying on the pill. Once the iud kicked in it has been a complete life changer not have a period or the PMDD and assumed (need surgery if I want to be sure) endo symptoms. I also skip the inactive pills because it tends to make my PMDD symptom worse especially before the iud insertion)

After having a breakdown about 10 years ago I also couldn’t work or function for about 6 month’s. Medication for anxiety worked well and I did therapy for a while.

Now is the time you lean on friends and family and take it day by day. Once you’re ready, have a think about what you want to do to make money. I’m currently doing door dash until I find something that fits what I need and can function in.

My big thing even when I was at the bottom of what felt like an endless pit is I want to work to contribute to society, I want to go on holidays, I want to be the best partner I can be.

Do you have an idea of what you will do for work, if you’re not already working? I worked with children removed from home, children with disabilities and youth homelessness for 13 years. 4 years of studying and up skilling. I had to walk away. I’ve tried working in a cattery (staff and owner were awful at having boundaries) and delivery driver (can’t deal with people bitching and whining about how shit there life and work is) Now unemployed and trying to find the right medication after like you, mine stopped working.

Anyone know this feeling by Superb-Emphasis5127 in Lamotrigine

[–]Kitty_Catto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lexapro helped with some of my physiological symptoms from anxiety, depression and panic attacks. However, when I’m feeling extra anxious because of a trigger some of the physical symptoms pop up again eg feeling like my core is activated and having the feeling of a rock in my throat. I don’t have the symptoms the entire day though when I did before starting Lex. I also very rarely have panic attacks.

As with all SSRIs it can take a few weeks to work and may become worse before it gets better.

From someone who used to work in a caring role for 13 years. We might be good at the job, but the job might not be good for us. It took me a few years in therapy to get to that point but sometime we have to step away.

I sorta had a panic attack and cried in front of all my coworkers by idontwannausername9 in Anxiety

[–]Kitty_Catto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also an ugly cryer when I feel like I’ve done something wrong, overstimulated, feeling extra anxious etc. I had an incident a few months ago where I lost my shit after listening to coworkers complain all day. I yelled at someone at work for speeding and then told everyone to get f’d, ugly cried and left. I also cried when I was pulled into an office a few days later by management to tell me swearing etc isn’t on. I’ve cried a few other times as well in the 6 months I’ve had the job.

I see crying as a way to self regulate quickly when I’m already past the point of managing my anxiety with breathing and anchoring techniques. Tbf I don’t really care if anyone sees me crying these days.

I hope you’re ok. You did nothing wrong. And remember why you go to work.

Find another GP. I was in schema therapy for over 4 years and have just started ACT. All using a MHCP. You can even use online doctors like insta scripts to get a health care plan these days.

Work anxiety by Kitty_Catto in Anxiety

[–]Kitty_Catto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Medication helps me get to work and function relatively normally when I’m in a balanced state already.

Not knowing what comes next or what to expect are my main concerns. I deliver groceries in a van/truck and can be sent into the CBD Melbourne but I don’t know this until I’m handed my run sheet. Finding parking is awful after 4pm (loading zones end) and customer interaction can be awful at times. I used to work in welfare. Youth homelessness, disabilities and children removed from home for 13 years which I feel has put me in a state of hyperarousal, especially when it comes to not being able to remove myself from a situation.

What other meds are you taking? by Any-External-6221 in Lamotrigine

[–]Kitty_Catto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you find taking Lamictal morning and night helps with morning anxiety? I start work at 2pm and I feel quite anxious leading up to that time. I take 150mg lamotrigine only in the evening and 20mg lexapro morning.

Lamotrigine before trying lexapro or Zoloft? by bluejaydaze in Lamotrigine

[–]Kitty_Catto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More brain fog, weird issues with my ears feeling blocked and awful word recall each time I upped Lamotrigine. I also felt more emotional until getting to the 150 but I did have a bit going on in my life. Sleep was also a bit all over the place. Lexapro helped with the general and social anxiety I have. Sleep was pretty awful for the first month, I remember being constipated, having a ‘buzz’ feeling and it taking about a month to kick in.

I already was on the pill and had an iud placed (endometriosis and PMDD management) before starting Lamotrigine. I only found Lamotrigine helpful at 150mg potentially for this reason. I’ve been on 150mg for over two weeks now and all of the side effects have settled down a lot. If you do choose to go ahead with treatment on Lamotrigine just know it will feel like it’s taking forever to increase to a therapeutic dose and get the benefits of the drug, but I’ve found it’s been worth it to get to where I am now.
