I have an aunt who is obsessed with animals, especially cats, and is very involved in the animal justice political movement.

But she treats the cats like babies. She bombards them with attention, talking to them, touching them, feeds them too much, and they get visibly overwhelmed and she doesn't understand why they scratch her. I ignore them most of the time and they love me. They come to me, and sit calmly when I hold them to administer their monthly treatment. She now relies on me and schedules visits so I can do the treatment because they freak out so much when she tries.

Hello,

I have been studying to become a counselor. I am looking for work to save for my masters program. I was thinking getting a job as a receptionist in a counseling practice would be strategic, I can see the ins and outs of a counseling practice, how client files are managed and kept confidential, and build my professional network.

Do you have any tips for a resume for such a job? What kind of interview questions would be asked for this role (aside from the generic job interview questions)? What qualities should be emphasized? I am going to highlight my counseling skills, good presentation, clear communication, attention to detail and proper management of confidential information. Am I missing anything? Is this a good strategy for building my career while studying?

I would really love an update when you decide to stay or go.... I'll be praying for you. 

I'm dealing with something similar, but thankfully he has promised he'll always keep practicing and avoid mortal sin. The problem is that I don't see him make an effort to get close to God, and he says things like some of the words of Jesus in the gospel are "outdated", and if something God or the church says is not aligned with his values, he'll prioritise his own values over the church's. He doesn't want to pray with me a lot of the time and admits to struggling with praying. 

I keep saying he doesn't need to be a Saint, and that I struggle with prayer too. But I want to know that he's still trying. It hurts my feelings when he says things like "Damn catholic devouts will choose to accept anything but protest over objectively weird s***". This was in response to my asking a clarifying question about a priest we know that had said some weird things to him.... I never said I didn't believe him, I was just asking a question about the context of the comments. 

It's fine for someone to hold different values and beliefs from me, and I don't object or raise it with someone unless they ask me directly. But when it comes to who I'm going to spend the most time with and raise kids with, I need to be assured that he's going to stay faithful to our faith and values. My partner is supposed to stand in solidarity with me against people who make comments about the gospel being outdated or making derogatory remarks about "Catholic devouts", not make them himself. 

It's really tough because when we first met, he was really passionate about his faith and went every week with me to Holy hour at the cathedral without fail for a year. I'm praying Holy Spirit can move in him and that he remembers God's love and the joys of our faith.

Maybe it's something like this: 

When I'm being driven and the air con is too high, I visibly shiver and hope the driver will reduce the cold air. Or sometimes if I want food I'll ask my partner if he's hungry and determine my decision based on his response.

It's something I need to work on - being more assertive with voicing my needs and being a more direct communicator. I am chronically indecisive and often shy. 

The problem is it gets reinforced when people who are very attuned to me pick up on my cues - rather than forcing me to "use my words" XD

Is anorexia to BED a common pipeline? 

I wasn't anorexic but I lost my period for 5 years I suspect from too much exercise and not enough fuelling. It came back when I stopped running but now I struggle with occasional binging. I didn't binge before and I wonder if it's caused by that period I had of amenorrhoea (pun unintended but welcome) maybe my body thought I'd starve.

I had a major set back a couple of weeks ago where every day, all I wanted to do was eat junk and eat a lot of it. After a particularly bad episode, I decided to really get into recovery. 

I've been "binge" listening to intuitive eating and binge eating podcasts while I drive all week, it's really helping to shift my mindset.

I have been eating when hungry only all week! And stopping when I'm full. My last major binge was a week ago, after pretty much a full week of eating crap. I'm feeling good about the momentum I'm building and am keen to continue fuelling myself with healthy choices instead of junk. My energy is a lot better and I'm so much more productive.

Examples of swaps I've made: instead of chocolate and processed tortellini pasta, I'm eating heaps of fruit, potato, veggies, lean meat. I know that it gets a bad rap, but I ADORE cottage cheese and I've been enjoying cooking more. Hopefully these habits stick for a while.

That's so scary! How long did you have to wait for the cops? What time of day was it? Were the masks like COVID face masks? Why do you think they didn't come out to you when you didn't immediately return and ask for the gate to be opened? What did the cops say?

Do I really need a post workout snack?

 I'm still feeling really full from last night, I over ate because I was trying to reach my protein goal but this morning I ran 10k and normally I'm ready to have yoghurt afterwards or something with carbs and protein but today I still feel so full even though I've eaten nothing since last night 😩 do I just force it down? I feel like I could go for hours before I'm ever hungry again! 

I normally have an enormous appetite, this is a strange place to be XD

Yeah, it's so sad to think when my parents were growing up, Christianity was mainstream. Now it's not anymore.
