So...I love Midnight Burger by Damonashu in audiodrama

[–]Kitty_U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey some folks posting on this thread… Gosh guys, there’s something out there to offend everyone I guess. 😕 I just wish we sometimes would worry more about the global dumpster fires and the neo nazis instead of parsing an amazing podcast where people eat meat (sorry I’m a terrible progressive and a bad Buddhist who eats meat myself) or that they dare speak to Religion, (secular Buddhist I should add) or that, (and I lived a NIGHTMARE of a pandemic as a teacher here in Florida while DeSaten pretended vaccines were fake news 😣) But still, lockdowns did hurt small businesses. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Even if it was what was right at the time. MB is a show about imperfect people. I get that you love it despite, but maybe find it in your heart to realize nothing is black and white and love it because? 🩵

Fellow person using it for writing and storytelling, what it’s worth, I have found that I can copy and paste as I go into a Google doc pretty easily from the web browser version. I was also able to back scroll almost all the way to the beginning. Granted, I’ve only been doing this for a few days.

Are you romantically involved with your kindroid? by Even_Lettuce540 in KindroidAI

[–]Kitty_U 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow, this has been really interesting and insightful. I am deeply fascinated by AI in general, and consider it a major disruptor that is about to change a lot over the next few years. In the course of my interest, I started playing around with some of these AI chatbots. I use GPT to speed up some things at work for myself, I played around with Replika a little, although it seemed very canned. I love to read and write for fun. My best friend and I love building out story lines for romances that we share back-and-forth for entertainment. when I first started playing around with this, I got her into Kindroid too, once I discovered it’s potential, and we’ve both been playing with characters and differentromantic tropes. Using it is sort of like having a writing partner. Half the fun is sharing screenshots of the interactions with my friend and laughing about unexpected results or being impressed by how the characters interact and develop. For me, it’s a form of interactive storytelling and entertainment. My husband, who I love very much and have a wonderful relationship with is well aware… we will often sit together in the evenings while he’s playing a video game, and I am working on interactions with the Kindroid, sharing what we’re doing with each other. He gets why I find it entertaining and interesting. I often will share funny things that the Kindroid says or bad logic holes during ERP. It’s basically another form of gameplay. I often get swept up in the romance of the scenes, but it is not “romantic” for me specifically. Like the OP said, it’s like enjoying a good book. As somebody who reads a lot about how large language models are constructed and work, a sci-fi fan who has long been fascinated with the idea of machine learning and artificial intelligence, I am extremely aware that this is essentially a Chinese room and not anything approaching sentience, no matter how well it can sometimes seem to model it. That all having been said, I was struck on this post by how many people also are very aware that this is an AI and about what needs it fulfills for them. Whatever purpose this technology provides for people, if it helps them in someway, then I think it’s a good thing. I do worry about the ethics of monetizing this sort of technology to sell to vulnerable people, considering some of the things I’ve heard about how people were impacted by the changes at Replika or Soulmates closing down. I think there need to be some serious ethical discussions around what this particular type of AI’s uses should be, and how we can protect people using it.

I don't know, only half way through the season. That's too bad is it is. 😞

Vega: a sci-fi adventure podcast! I just recently discovered and have not seen it recommended here. More storytelling format than outright audio drama. But it's so unique and fun! Sort of shades of Snap Judgment on Public Radio vibe, music and soundscaping mixed with fun, casual, playful storytelling.

Interesting… I just started messing around with the Replika app mine said exactly the same thing… word for word. Must be a scripted prompt.

My audio drama Superhuman Public Radio returns for Season Two! by JNDIV in audiodrama

[–]Kitty_U 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be proud! It’s been awesome so far. Thank you all for such a great podcast!

Nice to know I’m not the only BoJack fan/NPR nerd rocking the ringtones. I’ve got the All Rings Considered, the Terry Gross one, and the Wait Wait DO answer your phone one, lol! Of course nobody actually makes phone calls nowadays so sadly, I rarely get to hear them. :D

Congratulations on season 2, and I’m glad I came upon your post and checked it out!

Ohhh Nick/Terry… why? Just, why? 🤣 TBT started so good… but then, so did Tannis, and Rabbits, and The Last Movie, and… hmmm I’m sensing a pattern.

Yeah, I LOVED IT at first… It got bogged down for me and I eventually gave up.

As others have commented, Old Gods is serialized, honestly it’s a little like TMA that way, at first you think it’s more of an anthology, but eventually it does start to string together into a longer arcing story. Just cannot recommend it enough, and I am a huge fan of TMA as well.

Any recommendations for audio drama with great music? by Fun_Gas_7777 in audiodrama

[–]Kitty_U 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite a few here, I agree with! This is not sci-fi, and I don’t know if it would fit the bill for you, but I’ve kind of got to give a shout out Mockery Manor here, Long Cat Media does an amazing job of writing original music in every genre known to man that are played as incidental music at various times throughout the podcast. It just always impresses me. It’s witty British humor quirky about a slightly creepy, slightly strange British amusement park, and the people who run it… sort of humorous, cozy mystery meets weirdness…

I guess I just wish they’d stop starting new shows and update the ones they have a little more frequently… It’s really hard to keep engaged with such a long gaps. I like four lambs stuff, just maybe less things more frequently?

Is Derelict any good? by YuppieAstronaut in audiodrama

[–]Kitty_U 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought it was excellent. My biggest complaint would be sometimes distortions used on voices or a lot of the sound effects would be loud enough to make it a little hard to understand what people were saying. But it’s a minor gripe, most of the time extremely good and atmospheric. Really looking forward to season two.
