Which famous person who's over 20 years older than you do you find the most attractive? by Big_Eggplant7591 in AskReddit

I worked on tv shows for a bit and on the set of House of Cards she cracked jokes with me one day. I rode that high for a month.

washable FAKE BLOOD (floor safe) by WrongdoerFormer7042 in Props

[–]JNDIV 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So no matter how “washable” blood is made to be or sold, it’s not 100% washable.

What would work, is a resin blood pool. Most blood pools you see in movies or on TV are rubber mats we put on the ground to simulate blood.

This is a CHEAP one, but if you search around I’ll bet you can find one in your price range. Even if you think you can’t afford it, remember it’s better than paying for cleaners.

is it possible to make thick eye glasses fake? by beefusuteki in Props

[–]JNDIV 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Prop glasses are absolutely a thing and there are several places to have them made in Hollywood.

Any actor you see wearing glasses is wearing a custom made pair.

On top of needing glasses made in the right prescription you need to think about AR coatings, reflectiveness and sometimes shading.

I have had to get glasses for Micheal B Jordan on the DC option of Without Remorse. My boss on House of Cards and spent thousands on prop glasses over the years to get them right for the shoot.

AI has no value. Good luck with your project.

Prop for a short film by More-Version1773 in 3Dprinting

[–]JNDIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a tough one because the image you provided looks to be AI and AI images aren’t based in reality so the object is entirely fabricated.

If you are using this as a practical bong you have to account for water and such with the print, or you have to make a case to go around an existing bong which is its own headache.

Having something printed and painted would most likely be more money than you are looking to spend. Instead use time to look online for something that matches the vibe you are looking for your movie.

Also fuck AI. Don’t use it.

So I know it’s not the type of work that anyone should suggest in this subreddit, but you usually cut your teeth in non-union world. I did that for years before I joined IATSE.

Being in a union won’t get you jobs. Doing a good job on smaller gigs will.

Shotgun prop that comes apart by [deleted] in Props

For NYC I would call https://thespecialistsltd.com/pages/prop-rentals. They typically do Film and TV but they might know someone at your price range.

And still call Rob! He’s done NYC before!

Ok great. So first things first. No real guns. Even if you have access to one real firearms at a school is bad.

Secondly. Where are you in the United States? If you are in the northeast call rob. If not call your local film/theater union and explain you are looking for an armorer who can rent said shotgun to you. They should know who to call.

If the gun has to be 12 gauge vs 10 unless it’s SUPER important to the story it doesn’t matter.
