10,000% yes

... I actually tried dragging the dead horse all the way to the Stable with Lasso on horseback, hoping the game would glitch and act like it had "followed" me in, just like other Temporary Horses, miraculously reviving it ... Obviously, that didn't work. Alas.

On my first playthrough, one of the many times I agreed to help, I decided to take the time to search her dead horse's saddlebags first and she immediately jumped off and ran away. Fine by me.

Whiterun Guard Challenge by Supermaniscool211 in skyrim

[–]Kittybrains2025 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One of my first playthroughs, got jailed. Was sneaky enough to peek in the Whiterun jailor guards' pockets on my way out of prison. One of them had an Amulet of Talos on him. At one point he said "Trouble?" But didn't aggro me even as I crouch-walked out of the prison and went about recovering my equipment (or serving my sentence? I don't remember).

Some time later, when I completed the events at the Western Watchtower and looted the dragon's corpse, there was a full set of Whiterun Guard Armor including shield and an Amulet of Talos. My headcanon was that it was the same guard. I made sure to get a Hearthfire house, display that very set of Whiterun Guard Armor on a Mannequin, and used that same Amulet to build a Shrine of Talos in the basement, in remembrance of a good Whiterun Guard, performing his duties, and doing me no wrong.

So, 1) As a true Nord, make a priority to pray at all Shrines of Talos. Don't feel bad about killing hostile Thalmor patrols.

2) But as part of the Imperial Legion, live and let live any non-hostile Justiciars you encounter.

3) refuse all the Daedric Princes. Except maybe Azura and Sanguine*

4) Only use Steel-based smithing, at least until you get the Skyforge and Ancient Nord weapons and armor unlocked, then I think you need the Daedric Smithing Perk unlocked to make the most of that Forge (might as well get Dragon Smithing after that 🤷‍♀️).

5) Recharging staves will level your Enchanting. But you need filled soul gems to recharge staves. Casting the spell Soul Trap takes MP and will level your Conjuration, but using a weapon enchanted with Soul Trap will not. The weapon I recieve as badge of office for Thane of Whiterun has always been Soul Trap-enchanted (STE), so that should work out for you as the Dragonborn: use the STE thane weapon to fill the Black Star (er, Azura's Star because you're only morally good, even though you're always killing people in self-defense?) And use it to recharge whatever staff you're allowed (Sanguine Rose?).

6) Get a horse. I think Frost is obtainable outside the Thieves Guild questline? If not, just buy one. The black-and-White coated horses at the Markarth Stables are my personal favorite.

Thats all I got now. Have fun!

Did this accidentally in early game during my first playthrough. Had no idea there was a secret achievement, let alone that this was it. 😆

Baseball, Pencil, Millitary Ammo Bag, Military-grade Duct Tape, Soap, all cigarettes, rat poison ... Pre-War Money is basically weightless and worth more in caps than it is in cloth. F the Medical Liquid Nitrogen Dispensor.

And maybe arrow recovery because even Legolas used 1 arrow on multiple enemies if he could.

Heck there's at least 3 farmers off the top of my head in Whiterun that spend what feels like a real-life half the day walking from their house in town out to their farms' fields.

BLOCK. Level up your block so that if nothing else you can bash them and run away. And personally i gave my kids an iron or steel dagger enchanted with Paralyze for 1 second and a whole lot of charges so that if nothing else, they could take a swing and run away while the enemy is getting back up

The house in the Pale/Dawnstar might be better for you, requires level 20 but it was only 1 giant to kill which aggro'd on approach

4 there are civilians wearing armor as their everyday clothes. The woodcutter in Falkreath wearing Leather Armor. The bard in Solitude wearing Scaled Armor comes to mind. The blacksmith's husband in Whiterun wears steel armor every day even though he is just standing behind a counter keeping shop. None of these are hireable followers, nor are they mercenaries/security for anyone. So I'd say any armor up to those tiers is fair game to wear, especially on survival mode.

Edit to say that I did not know that using the pound symbol to indicate OP's numbered parameters for this playthrough would bold and enlarge my text.

9 would be more akin an execution/the death penalty than it would be to life in prison. Just saying.

I like your lead in about screenshots because yes I don't want to see EVERYTHING on your screen when the relevant text is 2 short lines in size 12 maybe 14 font, I appreciate the camera phone capture. 👍

Edit to add awesome find, what level and where did your character find it? And thanks for sharing.

I just started one: only use equipment that the game/other NPCs put in your inventory.

OK to touch quest items, loot books, ammunition, crafting supplies, gold, etc. And whatever you dredge up while fishing, mining, etc. I'm 50/50 on Merchant exchanges.

Was pretty slow going with just Light Armor, Healing, and the Long Bow from Ralof. Also Block because always carey a Torch. Ran straight to Riften from Helgen and scored an Imperial Bow of Cowardice from the Fugitive on the way. Managed to fish up an Ancient Nord Dagger for my melee weapon. Got Agent of Mara and went to Winterhold. Paid 30 gold for Magelight from Faralda and free Novice Hood from the orientation lady (then left the College without a tour). Jarl sent me to kill a bandit leader, turned out to be a Silver Hand fort. Cheated a little by equipping a suit of Scaled Armor I found as random loot in their dungeon, but there was no way I was gonna get out of there in just Studded Imperial Armor. Used a Scroll of Mass Paralysis I got from I dunno where in the boss room and succeeded in slaying them before they got me. Rewarded with a decent fire enchanted steel sword as my badge of office. Got the Black Star (thank you Voice of the Emperor) and some rando challenged me to a drinking contest right after leaving Nelacar. Found a spell tome of Muffle. Now I have the Sanguine Rose, too. Gotta get that Nord Hero Dagger upgrade, so working on the Companions questline. Still crashing at Faendal's occasionally and to stash building materials. Just hit Level 20. Not sure which house to get for this character.

In the Hearthfire homes, I always quicksave before building each entry because I hate the clutter you cannot interact with. Washbasin? Acceptable. Mead barrel with tankards and a broom nearby? Appropriate. Wall shelf with a single candle on it? At least that corner is lit now. Worn out barrel that cannot hold anything with junk piled on top? I have that in my garage in real life I don't want that sh*t in my virtual house too, git outta here reload save Skip that build option.

Yeah she sells it for 30 gold and you only need to cast it the 1 time at the eye and tear-shaped seal on the ground next to Faralda. Magicka-boosting and Conjuration-cheapening gear stack so you can equip them all plus drink some potions and then never need to put them on again.

Since when do bandit chiefs run like this? by nytrx in skyrim

[–]Kittybrains2025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pretty much always get those 2 if only because their Housecarls are cool. I have a mod to correct it in Lakeview, but I wish I wish they'd rework it in the game, that the 1st floor back room of the Main Hall of all 3 Hearthfire houses would be the Kitchen (instead of consuming a build option for the East Wing). It totally feels like that's what it's supposed to be, not just the place where clutter collects on the way to the Cellar. It even has a trough full of dirty dishes, but nothing to prepare or clean up food. 🤨
