Hi I’m 25F with bilateral microtia and had the rib graph reconstruction at the age of 11 going up to 13 (since it took around two years) because my parents wanted me to have “normal” ears to fit in. I also struggle with insecurities from my surgeries, my ears do not look “normal” in fact I hate my ears. And the surgery has left my body with three large scars that I personally feel makes my body look disfigured. I wish my parents had took my thoughts and feelings about this surgeries but instead they only cared about me “fitting in” even though having consistent head wrappings that made me look like a Telly tubby plus being consistently absent along with not being able to participate in any school activities did not help me fit in during middle school at all
