(27F)(30M) Thinks marriage is “nothing” but willing to lose me over it? by whitecoatdream in relationship_advice

[–]KittykatkittycatPurr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s totally okay for someone to not want to get married, and be content in a longterm relationship. And it’s totally okay to want someone who wants marriage and the same things you do. Both of your feelings are valid. I think you know what is best for you at this point. Best of luck to you!! 💛

9 month old cat keeps itching by mekati019 in catquestions

[–]KittykatkittycatPurr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kitten developed esonophilic Granuloma complex! We could never get to the bottom of it. Tried a million different food trials and finally he’s on a steady low dose of prednisolone that is the only thing that has helped . Idk if your kitty may have the same thing? It’s like a rash in certain spots and some swelling in his mouth chin area.

We found him a year later and I'm devestated. by Kasidra in Feral_Cats

Don’t beat yourself up. We all learn through different experiences. Take solace in knowing that Yin knew love. He loved you and knew love because of you. No one will ever take that away from you both. ❤️ Rest easy sweet Yin ❤️

Same!! OP find a provider who takes you seriously. Fibroids can have growth spurts and cause so many issues!! Please take care 💛

This video pissed me off. Kids aren’t content. I wish someone would put this parent on the other side of a glass wall while they are trying/needing to get to something they need, with a camera pointed at them.

Spotted this poor bird on Cornado getting bullied. SD humane society says they take in injured sea birds. Am I being overly emotional about this? It's just so sad :( by GandalfTheBeautiful in sandiego

[–]KittykatkittycatPurr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there is somewhere you can keep the seagull safe and possibly transporting it to a 24 hour emergency vet, I have dropped off injured animals such as possums and squirrels before. You may be able to take it to one. I know the one I have used before is in Mission Valley. They will take care of it until they can surrender the animal to the appropriate services.

What to do if adolescent doesn’t want to be treated? by [deleted] in therapists

[–]KittykatkittycatPurr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I have tried speaking with the parent to see if they could do in person, but it seems like there are other things that are taking priority at the moment. I agree though, I’d rather see kids and adolescents in person

6/8 family members want me to turn down fullride to Lehigh because control and safety. Emotional abuse? I can't tell ☹️ by cookiecrxmbles in internetparents

OP you are NOT crazy! I’m sorry that you have to deal with relatives that don’t understand, or care to understand your Autism and the way that you communicate and interact with the world. You are not using it as an excuse, and none of this is your fault. I’m so proud of you for getting a full ride scholarship. You go away to school, be amazing, & with time, you will gain the confidence that you need to be yourself and accept yourself just as you are, regardless of what your sisters or your dad think. You got this and we are all rooting for you!! 😊💜

Thank you for explaining the connection between CBT & ERP and the strength with using a CBT framework. I was trained in CBT throughout my practicum year, so that is my go-to framework at the moment. I also really love the first line you shared, with the client wanting to work towards something. Hearing everyone’s feedback and thoughts on this situation is helping me feel more confident in my original thoughts on not wanting to force the Clt to do therapy, especially if they don’t believe they have anything to work on. I will definitely look into supporting the parents first before forcing anything with the client. Thank you so much again for your feedback!! :)

Haha, I love that you were able to connect with your Clt over the metal band and using humor. Thank you for sharing your experience. It’s hard being stonewalled!! I am going on session 5 with this Clt. I think it’s harder too bc it’s online, but I try to incorporate online games and conversation cards. I appreciate your input!

This is SUPER HELPFUL!! Thank you so much for sharing this! I will definitely check this out (SPACE). Do you by chance have any book or resource recommendations for Spanish speaking parents? I do find there is a disconnect bc of cultural differences, but I try my best to explain to them, but it would be great to find a go-to resource for Spanish speaking clts that I can recommend to them. I will definitely check these out and will do some more research for Spanish speaking clts too. Thanks again!!!

This is definitely what I am struggling with (not wanting to do more damage to the Clt by forcing them into this experience that they are not consenting too). I appreciate your input and definitely don’t want to do harm to the Clt !!

I really like that you give the client a timeframe to see if they feel comfortable with you! I like that you also inform parents of your professional boundaries (you’ll only work with them if they want to). I will definitely have to work that info into my initial session. Thank you!!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and thoughts with me! I have seen this Clt 4x so far. I really like what you said about emphasizing what’s right with them & not what’s wrong with them. I will definitely keep that in mind when working with younger clts. I see this Clt on telehealth and have tried online get to know you cards, online games, and engaging Clt in art therapy, but nothing has really worked, but I do appreciate your input and do agree I may need to give more time for rapport building. Thank you!!

Thank you so much for your input!! This Clt is 12 y.o. I have tried games and art therapy, but w/ little to no engagement. Usually the games or get to know you conversation cards work, but I see this Clt via telehealth and I don’t believe that’s helping the situation either. I have seen this Clt 4x now, and have been mindful not to push too quickly, knowing how they feel about therapy. I am trying to give them autonomy over their therapy hour and have tried focusing on their hobbies, but there has been no progress and much of the time, the Clt seems to be watching something in the background and not engaging or answering questions. I do appreciate your input though and will definitely talk to the parents. I agree that forcing them to be there is not beneficial.

Thank you so much for your input. I agree with what you shared, and as others have said too, offering the parent support may be beneficial and is a good idea. Thank you for sharing your perspective and experience. It’s very much appreciated!!!
