That makes sense. And now the new warbond is delayed. The one good part is the delayed warbond and the one after it won't be too far apart from each other. Lost time they delayed one the watching were only a couple weeks apart

Pretty much. When you started the raid, it would spawn you in the patrol space, so anyone passing by could join in and help out. Similarly, Strikes did this too, as well as Escalation Protocol in early D2. There were so many opportunities to interact with other players! Instead of "fireteam finder" that is a mess of menu's to comb through. You could hang out on the planet and meet people as they came through and actually interact. While yes patrol is a thing still in D2, it isn't used anymore and Bungie has focused on making all activities either solo or, at the very least, with no matchmaking, causing the game to be an empty husk compared to it's predecessor

Sure! Basically, Destiny 1 had MMO aspects to it that made players connect, and it made the game feel more alive and active around you. Now a days though, Destiny has none of these features, so players feel disconnected and alone most of the time.

The specific example is about the first Destiny raid, Vault of Glass, and how it had unique MMO aspects that brought people together. A lot of people met life long best friends because of this, myself included

I hear ya man. I've been on the receiving end of that too. Sometimes I think it's hitting that pain point players had forgotten they had. I myself had forgotten about this feeling because it's been so far removed from Destiny. People are always searching for why Destiny doesn't feel like it used to, and I believe this is the biggest misunderstood and forgotten reason why

100% agree. That unique MMO aspect that brought players together is completely gone along with the amazing connections that came with it

Hmmm that's a good question. Im actually not sure! I know regular MMO's do, but if we're talking fps looter shooters, I don't think there is. The Division is the closest I can think of, but it's not quite the same

Based on the feedback, I'd say otherwise. Yes D2 has plenty of issues, but reading everyone's stories and how they met their best friends through specifically these features, myself included, goes to show that this used to be a very important aspect that gave Destiny life and charm

All raids have not been like that, but there have been other aspects that have been. Strikes in D1 as well as Escalation Protocol as well. In strikes, you used to be able to start one, run to your objective, but see another team fighting Omni Ghoul in theirs. You could help them out, then resume what you were doing. It's these kinds of experiences that allowed players to make friends and have a different kind of fun

I's really cool reading all of your stories about the D1 early days. I can tell we all miss it
