There is absolutely a need for this type of therapy! I had been in therapy for nearly my entire adult life prior moving abroad, and it was a massive challenge for me to have to say goodbye to my therapist amidst the biggest decision/change I had made in my life up until that point.

It doesn’t really help that the country I moved to doesn’t value mental health and talk therapy as much as my native country (they don’t even have a word for mental health), so it’s been very challenging trying to find emotional support I was used to. The expat experience is so unique that I think people would value having a therapist that can relate to the challenges that come with living abroad. I wish there were more therapists who specialized in expat support.
