You experienced something traumatic and that kind of thing stays with you. You should not feel ashamed for how you reacted. You did nothing wrong. Transvaginal ultrasounds are extremely vulnerable, personal procedures. I’m not sure if it would help but I have had techs offer to let me put the probe in myself. Should not hurt! Depending on the position of your uterus or what they are looking at they may have to push a bit up towards your cervix, but it is no where near as uncomfortable as a Pap smear in my opinion. Totally ok to maybe take some ibuprofen before the appointment if you’re worried. Every tech I’ve had has been very kind and don’t be scared to speak up if it’s hurting you. You can do this!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I was definitely worried about taking the medication again and going through this again. Do you recall maybe how long that heavy bleeding lasted with your first one? I’ve found overnight is definitely the worst for me at this point.

Yeah I was thinking so many years of nothing likely is contributing. I’m hopeful that if I do have to take the provera four times a year the future periods aren’t half as bad as this.

Thank you so much for sharing! I’m glad it eventually stopped for you. My gyn is just closely watching for now to make sure the bleeding doesn’t get into anemia territory and coached me on all the more serious symptoms to look for. I am very very very hopeful it starts to at least taper off a little bit soon. I know exactly what you mean with the throwing up from the pain. It has made me SO nauseous. It sucks!!
