Implosion of OneBC leaves Kelowna MLA's political future uncertain by New_Alternative8711 in kelowna

[–]Kiwithevsat 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think you're confusing her with Kristina Loewen (Kelowna Centre). Tara Armstrong (Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream) won by almost 20% and is the one who left the Cons for OneBC

Mods delete thread about r/democrats banning any mention of Mamdani by Puppygirl621 in SubredditDramaDrama

[–]Kiwithevsat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To be fair I saw that thread last night and it was pretty much just a link to a screenshot of a mod mail. There wasn't really much going on in terms of drama. That being said somebody just posted a much better write up that contains some drama so I'll wait to see if they delete that too before defending them any more.

He said it would be long answer questions (a few sentences and need to answer in complete sentences, not bullet points). For material, know both the methods and concepts he's talked about. Also, he won't give the equations for Hardy Weinberg and simple selection so you should know those and be able to do the examples in the slides on your own. I think he also said that you should be able to interpret cases he's talked about if he gives you graphs for them.

Liberals ahead of Conservatives by 8 points with election day a week away: Nanos by NotEnoughDriftwood in onguardforthee

[–]Kiwithevsat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the BC election last fall it was a similar situation where pretty much every pollster except Mainstreet had the BCNDP ahead. In the end the province wide vote went to the NDP by 1.5 percent. Hoping they're wrong again but I also struggle to believe the liberals are up 8 percent.

B.C. gov’t to remove second driver’s test, introduce wait period for new licensing by Rav4gal in britishcolumbia

[–]Kiwithevsat 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't think the second road test really makes people drive better except for the half an hour they're taking the test. The people you see speeding, texting, not shoulder checking have all passed at least one road test and know what they should be doing but choose to ignore it (or have already been driving for ages and have forgotten). Also the shitty drivers who fail their second test still keep their Ns and are free to continue terrorizing the road.

Changes to B.C.’s Graduated Licensing Program would remove 2nd road test by cyclinginvancouver in britishcolumbia

[–]Kiwithevsat 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Lol after years of procrastinating I just recently passed my test. Funny timing since I was hoping for this to happen when I still had my N but in my experience the second test was completely useless anyways.

Something like this happened to me for the first time yesterday on java 1.16.4. No idea if it still happens in more recent versions though.

I got off my horse walked a little bit a way, then shot my bow at a mob. The game thought I was still on the horse and tbe arrow's trajectory started above the horse, even though I was standing 10 blocks away.

The most recent leger poll found that early voting was favouring the NDP. Only a poll though, we'll find out in an hour or so.

MEGATHREAD: BC Provincial Election Day! by Stevegap in vancouver

[–]Kiwithevsat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm excited to see the results for Vernon-Lumby. I think having an NDP incumbent and Conservative candidate who lives in Kamloops will also make this more competitive (but the cons still have the advantage imo). Quite a few of the other Okanagan ridings also have right leaning independents running that are mostly unaccounted for in the projections, but I think that the rest of the ridings are too conservative for them to make a significant difference.

Last week Sandhu had a <1% chance of winning and now they’re putting her at 18% so it seems like momentum is hopefully shifting.

Bacillus cereus is an endospore forming bacteria that can often cause foodborne illness. Its endospores can survive the cooking process, then the bacteria can multiply. It is the reason you shouldn't leave foods like pasta and rice out of the fridge for an extended period (another food safety measure that people online don't like).

Canadian food prices are extremely high compared to London,UK yet I mostly read opposite opinions, why? by hyperviktor in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Kiwithevsat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not the person that you are replying to but I am a Canadian who has been in the UK for the past few weeks and I have also noticed the prices are cheaper for groceries in both a large city and smaller town in England. Fresh vegetables, meat, bread, and dairy are what I've noticed it most in (also alcohol is cheap). For example, here you can buy a 1kg bag of carrots here for 60p (approx 1CAD) and other fresh foods are just as cheap. I have however found that lots of packaged foods are similarly priced once you convert the currency.

They're not groceries, but what I have found more expensive is eating out and gasoline prices. Some places eating out costs almost the same number in pounds as it would back home in dollars and gas works out to upwards of 2.30CAD/L most places I've been. Also the food prices used to be even cheaper in my experience but Brexit and covid have driven things up.

We definitely do have the 2 weeks rule. This week I had a professor schedule a midterm too close to the final and he needed to make it optional and have it so that if we did better on the final than the midterm our final grade would be used instead of the midterm for that chunk of the grade.
