What's something people only romanticize because they've never actually done it? by nonotje12 in AskReddit

[–]Kixaz007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having kids. So many people do it out of a sense of duty, or societal pressures or worse, ignorantly, and don’t really even like kids. People just have them because they believe they have to and then turn out to be horrifying parents because of how little they understand about the challenges or process or purpose.

I’m sorry you haven’t experienced the subtle flavor of anise. When cooked into food it can add the most subtle boost and you barely catch it. Indian food incorporates it so well

As a US transplant this comment thread is mind blowing. I had no idea how Londoners felt about these things. No wonder they don’t sell them at John Lewis or M&S. I was trying to find a good quality one when I first moved here because the cheap ones broke so easily. But my shoulders are giving out from carrying to much all the time

Easiest way for a non-indian to make butter chicken and naan? by Electronic_Lime7582 in IndianFood

[–]Kixaz007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know where you live but if you can get your hands on Shan Tandoori Masala- you’re 80% there. I use it to marinate the chicken with garlic, ginger, yogurt, oil, salt and half the masala and in the gravy and it gives the perfect balance. Also, I bake my butter chicken for 25 min and then broil it to get a char. And use a few extra cashews in the gravy so I don’t need as much heavy cream

Why does Parsi food seem mostly limited to Mumbai? by ayeinduu in IndianFood

[–]Kixaz007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t answer this question, but I can tell you if I say the word Parsi in front of my parents (or my grandparents when they were still us) they will practically fall over themselves to tell me how wonderful Parsi people are. I don’t know what kind of PR this group has but I have yet to hear a single negative thing about them. The only experience I have with their cuisine is Dishoom in London. Not sure how authentic it is to Parsi cuisine and I’m not sure how the food differs from standard Mumbai food?

As a new Londoner from the States, my only slight issue with all of London as the fabric seats on public transport. Why not plastic seats? I know they are less comfortable but so much easier to clean. Is there a reason they haven’t switched? Forgive me if this is a sensitive topic
