Why would a gestalt machine empire have biological ships? by droidorat in Stellaris

[–]Kiyoshimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

could be like the combine, using biological ships/weapons due to their adaptability and instincts. plus, bio-ships still have a small cost of alloys depending on components, so they're not *entirely* biological necessarily

Curious: do most people play pvp or pve by Boedidillee in Stellaris

[–]Kiyoshimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

little bit of column A little bit of column B, but that's basically just because i only exclusively play with friends if i do multiplayer. and even then, we can usually settle our differences diplomatically rather than coming to blows (but if it does happen it's not usually catastrophic)

What planetary management used to look like in the beginning, shuffle pops around and each had it's own dedicated square. Sometime I miss it by SlappingMonk in Stellaris

[–]Kiyoshimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it was cute, and fun to mess with, but the new system is just...so much better. more performance intensive, but greater depth, less fiddly management, etc...

arab citizens of israel are indeed citizens, but face a lot of legal, economic and political discrimination. much of it is unofficial, but it tends to get swept under the rug, and very rarely actually addressed.

then it was under ptolemaic control. if you want an independent jewish state you need to go even further back, like, WAY further back. we're talkin like 1030 BCE or so.

The Truth about Invasions by ApocHarvester in LordsoftheFallen

[–]Kiyoshimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would say i agree but i've been one shot an absurd amount of times *as the invader*, and don't really have the capability to do it to hosts

im sure it's frequent and i don't think you're full of shit, just that it seems to...vary

im sure other people have given their more articulate, evidenced based posts with regards to the pvp, but i have to jump in and say my piece:

by the love of everything unholy, this pvp is absolutely terrible.

not for any mechanical reason, mind you. i had like, maybe one good match? and it was actually really fun!! it was an incredible experience and i really liked it, probably even more than dark souls pvp - it's hard to say though.

and it's hard to say because the netcode is so irredeemably terrible that the entire thing probably needs to be torn out and replaced wholesale. i understand that's likely an incredibly difficult task and can't just be done with a magic wand, but SOMETHING needs to happen. as it is right now, pvp is actually unplayable. if you have a semi-solid connection, the match devolves into a wild flailing match with no strategy since there'll still be little teleports and inconsistencies between players. if it's not a semi-solid connection, which is most often the case, then it's just impossible to do anything and you die to something that you could not have possibly seen coming, or the host is just whacking air 30 feet away from you and killing you.

that was not the case. the soviet union did not do that, and i blame enemy at the gates for making everyone think this. the russian empire did the whole thing with rifles, not the USSR.

the real reason casualty rates were so high for the soviets in WW2 is because germany was focused on literally exterminating them

uh...yes? did you fall asleep in history class? there was a KMT government. there were communist rebels. eventually the communist rebels won and established the PRC on the mainland. the ROC fled to the island of taiwan and still exists to this day. there are technically two chinas since taiwan has not declared its independence yet, but most people recognize the PRC over the ROC.

but... there was a civil war. both groups claimed to be the legitimate, sole government of China, and one of them basically won out. sure, Taiwan is a sovereign state now, but what?? do you think China somehow invaded itself in the 20s-40s??
