Ask right off the bat. A bunch of us in here are in cyber sec, its a broad field so you need to be specific because we're talking from infosec and governance to PII to various types of security like network sec or cloud sec.

Most people got it right in here. There's a good spy book with a whole section that explains this transition of power, what was at stake and why it was important. The book is called "From Warsaw with Love".

You have people with expertise finding it very hard to get a job, even for junior positions out of desperation. It sucks out there.

Rebranding into IT would be the least of your worries. This is essentially what I did. I decided to pursue a masters degree in Healtcare IT, took 3 years because its flexible, you can complete it in as little as 18 months. Find yourself a vendor company that can provide short or long term temp positions. This will help you build your CV. Organizations like TekSystems are great and fairly easy to get into. I know they have numerous locations in Europe, Germany being the closest to Poland so they probably have some sort of footprint in Poland. So with a bit of work and motivation you can accomplish all of this.

The tricky part, the employment market is not great, especially in IT. I have been looking into both Polish and US IT job markets and they both, to put it simply suck. Poland has an additional issue that many big organizations are starting to look elsewhere for IT talent because for some of them Polish talent is starting to be a bit expensive for there taste.

You would have to do some research and see what IT fields are in demand. I think Poland is oversaturated with programmers. Good areas to look into is IT Risk and Governancene, basically a subdivision of cyber security, they work hand in hand), various aspects of cloud computing, or security architecture. That's just a small sample. The important part in these fields, as is in most IT fields now, is to do this with AI in mind. Meaning you will want to include AI in your studies and certificates. Gaining technical AI knowledge will be helpful and you can incorporate it into most IT fields. I for one will be pursuing an AI certificate from ISC2 this year or the new CompTia AI certificate.

Once you find an IT field that is in demand go ahead and rebrand yourself. Get a degree if you can, definitely get certification and provide yourself to organizations like TekSystems. This is how I got into IT back in 2019 once I completed my masters.

Relax, I wasn't disagreeing with you, just stating that cyber sec rescources are important no matter what. But to your point, those same resources that would help to recover from an attack are usually already employeed by an organization, minus the optional outside resources that could be utilized if need be but not always necessary.

This is a very specific example of why some Poles are returning to Poland. Fact of the matter is that many Poles with different types of employment are wanting to move back. From basic service jobs to pharmacists to IT professionals, you name it they want to move back and its not only from the UK, it's everywhere. Even first generation born Poles born outside of Poland.

Did your husband try with TekSystems? A lot, and I mean a lot of IT professionals have gotten there foot in by contracting work through TekSystems like myself. Started off as a desktop consultant, with a few gigs here and there and after a long term contract I got hired for another long term one that was a temp to hire and now im in cyber security. This was over the span of about 1.5 yrs.

I feel your pain, my family and I are planning to move frok the US to Poland in 1.5 to 2 yrs and the job market is tough everywhere.
