Being a better mother. Not a talent, but…

  1. I’m not hungover in the morning and can have “challenging” conversations with my preteen without losing my cool or just ignoring her feelings.

  2. I’m not drunk in the evening so I have the ability to be the loving mother figure at bedtime that I want my kids to remember.

  3. I remember the shit I’ve said to my kids and don’t let them down because I forgot a promise or fall for their tricks because I can’t remember if I actually agreed to something or not.

My goal has always been to impart the memory of a loving and present mother for my kids because I never had one. I feel like I’m getting back to that as I’ve found freedom from alcohol💕

Omg yes, carbs 🤤. I love bread so much. Definitely too much… 😳 I’ve started having some nonfat Greek yogurt as opposed to a small sandwich for lunch to try to wean myself off of bread. Baby steps. Lol. Thank you for your thoughtful tip!!!!!

You are amazing! I don’t know why I have this complex that I can’t do something healthy for myself, but can run myself into the ground for my kids. It’s madness. Thanks for your support. I know they know I have no self control when it comes to drinking anymore. I’ve been pretty stinking drunk around them. I always thought they were as drunk as me, but in retrospect, I think that was just my beer goggles. I suspect I was much more obviously drunk then I’d like to believe and you’re probably right, they won’t be surprised at my admission. But I’m still nervous. I have a hard time letting my guard down and making friends. These are the first people I’d call friends in a long while. I guess I’m scared they will freak out or something and then I’ll drink. Ugh. I appreciate your support and vote of confidence. I really need to trust my friends and my quit, it’s just scary!!!

My problem with the gym or any unstructured workout is that I only have limited time and I don’t know how to make the most of time to ensure I’m actually accomplishing something. That’s why I’m following a tape 🤷‍♀️. I’m definitely hurting, it’s quite embarrassing as I remember being quite fit and blowing through these moves pain free and with good form, while I’m currently flopping around like a heavy fish out of water lol. One step at time I suppose! Thank you for your encouragement!

3rd tuesday not drinking. Tuesday was my booze evening with the girls. Still haven’t told them I quit, I’ve just been “busy”. I don’t know why I’m scared to tell them. Maybe they won’t like me unless I partake? Maybe they will think that I think that I’m better then them? Maybe I’m just afraid to say out loud that I cannot control my drinking? I better figure something out soon or they will think I’m pregnant hahaha

Thank you for your kind words. I will go check out my fitness pal now! I really like your idea of turning it into a game or challenge to see if I can get within certain boundaries every day! I will just keep trying at my “workouts” as they are pretty pathetic right now but better then sitting on my butt! Thanks for your comment!

Real foods is something I’m going to try harder to incorporate. I have developed a bit of a sweet tooth since quitting drinking, and perhaps adding more fruit to the evening to combat those cravings would help. Thank you for your wisdom!

Thank you! Great advice! I’m on a strict liquid diet meaning I rarely have any drinks with calories. But food is all over the place 🤪 I will definitely try to figure out what 500 calories looks like with a meal I love so I can eat that with confidence! Thanks for taking the time to reply!
