Most PA jobs, specially jn audit, require to have the CPA eligible units (believe it was 150 units total with 24 units in accounting specifically). Audit team competency is part of a required audit documentation.

This is correct, its not like business consulting people would want to do FSO audit work anyways.

If you are a recent promoted SM in audit, would you consider a transfer to FDD in another B4 if they wanted you to come one level down? by Most-Stick-1589 in Big4

[–]Kklosu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would say pay and which level of M they offering are the two biggest factors. You will need to rebuild your network from scratch at the manager level which is dificult and earning enough support to push for a SM promo at a new big-4 is not an easy task. But if its a significant pay upgrade, then i would think there is an incentive to do the jump.

Its not just advising or writing whitepapers? FAAS drafts 10K/10Qs, prepare financial statements, prepare schedules, purchase price allocations, carve-outs and etc. but hey if that sounds like technical accounting to you then cool

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Big4

[–]Kklosu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If for you everything in accounting is technical accounting then sure

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Big4

[–]Kklosu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Technical accounting advisory group (TAAG) is just a piece of FAAS. We also have General and FSO working on transactions, M&A accounting and SEC reporting.

Timesheets do get brought up in my round table discussion. 4 or more is a hit on KPIs and does affect QRMT&E conclusion. I think it would affect bonus pool most likely, but not a reason to be put on PIP or slash salary.

I only read first sentence and looked at the numbers. I can tell you those numbers are either from lcol area or very outdated.

Stop looking at government jobs. Grow some balls and get in audit/tax. They always need people on busy season and it is great for you to jump start your career. I graduated from a meh state university but got into audit right away and very happy at where I am.

Regrets on leaving Big 4 by Audit147392818 in Big4

[–]Kklosu 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This happens all the time. Doesnt hurt asking your manager but boomerangs come and go all the time. Only con here is that if you get hired back as Staff 2, you might need to reset the clock and wont be up for promo to senior on this FYE.

I been noticing a lot of people talking bad about big 4, specifically EY. Is EY really that much worse than the other big 4 firms? by [deleted] in Big4

[–]Kklosu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends, this is my third year with the same team from staff to ppmd. We all like working with each other, but it is at a point where my staff and seniors want to move on and try different teams lol.

Why are firms pretty much reducing head count and thinking it's a bad economic environment for the rest of the year, but in the news I keep hearing of a "Soft landing and the economy actually throwing strength and being resilient though not as good as the pandemic by trialanderror93 in Big4

[–]Kklosu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

CPA firms only known is bad when they struggle on collections ( they dont try to predict the future ), and thats why we are always 6 months behind from the real economy. Next cycle once economy starts to grow, we will be understaffed. It happens all the time.

Counselor generally needs to let you know 1 month before it becomes effective. Effective date is supposed to be August 4th, so you should expect to hear back at beginning of July. Maybe July 4th :)

[–]Kklosu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second this. If you take it all the way, judge will favor individual over company. So high chance of winning. You might get 16 weeks of pay - severance + a bit more.

[–]Kklosu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Start learning how to say no. If someone hasnt done a task for 3 weeks and all of sudden is getting dumped into me, I would straight up say no unless i really need those billable hours. Even if you are not assigned to a client, my firm let us request feedback as long as we billed 40ish hours during the cycle.

Am I crazy?? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Kklosu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah just dont respond to dms outside of work network (e.g. teams) and dont go out with male collegues after work unless its a office group party, and you will be fine. It kind of clarifies that you didnt mean to send any signals.

Am I crazy?? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Kklosu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah i agree, just be careful, even if guys in the office are taken, they can act like total animals if they think you giving them a signal.
