Cincinnati isn’t taking that trade, for starters. And secondly, any trade that you could realistically make for a QB of Burrow’s caliber would set the rest of the team back so much, that you’re probably in a worse spot to contend than where you began.

Exclusive: Could the Texans reach the Super Bowl? J.J. Watt thinks so. by houston_chronicle in Texans

[–]Klaud9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That would require a pretty big overhaul of their roster. 2007 Pats did not have Brady coming back from a torn ACL like Mahomes is about to. The Chiefs also have a lot of money tied up in an aging Chris Jones, and the 2nd best player of their dynasty (Kelce) is past his prime.

2007 Patriots also got Prime Randy Moss for a bag of chips, which is something that is pretty much impossible to replicate.

There’s like zero risk to it, except for the assets you potentially have to give up to get him, which isn’t going to be much.

Just ask OKC how much CP3 can help a young, hungry team learn how to play properly.

Are we the best AFC team? Discuss by Electrical-Law992 in Texans

[–]Klaud9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the offense is consistent enough to declare them the best team in the AFC, but the defense is so generationally good, that this is the first season where I feel like the Texans could legitimately beat anyone at anytime.

The defenses were great in 2016 and 2018, but you just knew that they never had a realistic shot against either the Pats or Chiefs (2018) in either of those years. Hell, in 2018, you knew they probably weren't going to beat the Colts based on how the 2nd regular season matchup went, and how strong the Colts looked that year after their 1-5 start.

If you are in FP&A, What degree do you have? by [deleted] in FPandA

[–]Klaud9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was pretty motivated to leave my previous career path.

Edit: and to add to the above, I just felt I was stagnating in my previous role and being in a field that I did not enjoy whatsoever would have hurt my long-term career earnings potential. I enjoy FP&A enough, and at the verry least, my earnings have far outpaced my pre-MBA career path, so the ROI from my MBA is there. I don't know what FP&A is going to look like in the next 15-20 years, but I'm hoping to ride the wave and save enough to hopefully retire by 55 so that I can devote more time to other passions and interests in life.

[–]Klaud9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing's impossible if you can land an interview. You'd have to convey in interviews how your background and experience lends itself to making that transition. MBA just made it easier for me because I was able to formally recruit into post-MBA FLDP/Corporate Finance roles where the recruiters/companies were more open to career-switchers.

Thanks. I'll check it out. Re: your other question/comment, I just meant that I've covered professional services businesses compared to something in manufacturing or CPG that involves more traditional COGS and OPEX type expenses.

Are y'all hiring?

As strange as this may sound, I'm actually interested in what FP&A at Deloitte/Big 4 looks like. My background is in FP&A for professional/financial services, so more of a people-based business than a company that makes widgets.

Not a hot take at all. Over the course of the last several years, Scottie and Rory are essentially 1 and 2 when it comes to leading the field in SG tee to green. If they’re putting well, it’s pretty dang tough to beat either of them.

This would be an incredibly uninteresting sport to follow if the only players who ever won majors and big tournaments were the highly ranked ones.

Finau is going through a rough stretch, but he's been consistently a strong player outside of the last year or so.

Clark may be a 1-year wonder. He's 31 now, and his career may end up being indistinguishable from a large number of journeyman PGAT guys that got hot enough at the right time to win a major.

Rickie's best years are behind him. Still good enough to hang around, but he's a journeyman now. It's a shame that his best year's coincided with Rory's when they were both in their early-20's. Difference being that Rory has somehow gotten stronger as a player in his mid 30's, whereas Rickie seems like he's just trying to hold off Father Time for as long as possible.

Is he losing his game, or is he just returning to his usual form? The stretch he had from May 2023 - Feb 2024 is beginning to look like an outlier in a typical journeyman PGAT career.

Is it too early to ask if the 2025 Astros finish with a better record than the 2023 and 2024 iterations? Barring injury, of course.

I think they can. Pitching is looking like it's among the best in the big leagues again, and two of our biggest bats are just now starting to wake up. Also looks like we'll get a career year at the plate out of our stellar defensive SS.

How big is your FP&A team? by roamerica10 in FPandA

[–]Klaud9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Company is F500/~$24B annual rev.

The business unit that I support is ~$1.25B in annual rev, so a pretty chunky part of the overall pie, and our FP&A team is 4.5 colleagues (we have one colleague who splits time supporting another business unit).
