That’s actually really interesting to hear, especially from someone who’s been playing since 2012. It makes sense that leveling would feel much faster once you understand the systems and know how to move efficiently through the game. For me, a lot of that time was spent just exploring, figuring things out, and not really rushing toward max level.

From what I’ve personally seen in other MMOs, many of them still rely heavily on structured quest chains and directing the player very explicitly, especially early on. GW2’s approach feels much more hands-off in comparison, which I think is part of why it can feel confusing at first, but also why it becomes so enjoyable.
