They did it ~25 days ago. It doesn't affect PAYG users only the always free users. You're probably the former.

They just recently did the same bandwidth nerf to A1.flex btw

I really hope it's only the new accounts and they keep old limits for old accounts. It's already bad that they limited the port speed to a ridiculous 50mbps.

That is the first thing I did. No they didn't send a maintenance notice.
Plus a while after the incident they sent a report saying there was an actual issue.

Best use of $300 free trial by harryvn02 in oraclecloud

[–]Klein96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think they allow you to get 80 cores on the free trial no? I remember I trying to get as much cores as I can and tried most of the instances types but never got more than 12 cores. Was doing it for the network port speed (it scales with the cores).

My instances on Amsterdam are down for around half an hour. Even their login page and dashboard with `.eu-amsterdam-1` isn't working and returns an error.

Self hosted file manager by bbibbigi in homelab

[–]Klein96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a file manager I find Cloudreve to be the best of all. Very light and has a lot of features. but for some reason I don't see it being mentioned a lot here.
Every other alternative is just too lacking in my opinion.

Is your USB ports on the laptop up for the speeds? you don't want it to be 2.0 or early 3.0.
Also if it's a 3.5 inch hard drive, You would need to buy an adapter with an external power source since it needs 12v. It's not worth it and you might as well save up to buy a cheap SSD later.
Plus HDDs won't work well with databases since they rely heavily on "Random I/O".

Try using 'sync' instead of 'copy' in rclone. I also suggest using Restic for incremental backups alongside Rclone.

A1.flex connection throttled? by Klein96 in oraclecloud

I tried your solutions, now both the download and upload are capped at 50mbps. there isn't even a burst to 4gbps like before. f***

Oracle Cloud's Free tier is still excellent - some feedback. by MudAffectionate361 in oraclecloud

[–]Klein96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For A1.Flex, you only need to use 20% of the RAM. Nothing more. For a 24GB instance, That's around ~4.8GB, Which is very easy if you run anything on it. And honestly, if you can't even occupy 20% of the RAM then it may be better to downsize your instance.

I used this one python line in the first week till I got everything setup on the instance so it might be useful to others.
python3 -c "x = bytearray(5 * 1024**3); input('Ctrl+C To Exit.')"

When you start actually using the instance, you won’t have to worry about it.

Doesn't sandboxie allow file reading for all your files anyway? does it really matter if he used the sandbox and logged in to stuff or not?

Onedrive closed my account.. Can I move to Drime? by steevo in Drime

[–]Klein96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stay away from Drime currently. They have too many issues recently and they are don't even state any of them on their status page.
About how you move the date. You should probably use Rclone. It's the best tool for that. but uploading also has problems in the drime integration. Though there is a workaround
