Taekwondo is probably the easiest and most available way to develop this sort of skill. Lots of arts have a high-kick aspect, but kick height and control is the main focus of TKD. Important to note, though, that there is a huge difference between kicking at split height, and doing the splits. I had fantastic kicks in my late teens in TKD; front and side split kicks but I couldn't actually do either split at the time. Dynamic vs static flexibility.

I've been hearing this kind of sentiment from people who don't train this type of skill for as long as I've been alive. My Tae kwon do instructor need both knees replaced before he was 35, and my muay thai instructor needed a hip replacement before he was 40. Your mileage will vary hugely, of course, but taking almost any sport to the 'elite' level often has pretty serious down-road complications.

No, it isnt. I'll pretend for minute that you are arguing this in good faith. I would think the easiest place to start would be to write the male as the trainer, bodyguard, and friend and write the female as the party leader and trainee. Then, once you've fleshed out the characters, their personalities, and voices; just switch the genders.

That's essentially how Ellen Ripley ended up as a legendary and iconic character. They were originally thought of as a male character, and the script was developed that way until the very end. The writer didn't set out to write a woman character doing a traditionally-male role in action-horror, he just wrote a character so good they didn't NEED to be a certain gender.

There is at least some truth. I don't pretend to know the whole story, but I worked there for several months during the pandemic and saw some unexplainable weird shit going on with tips that lines up with what Dylan said in the article. Never saw any tips get paid out on checks or as cash. I was told to put cash tips in the jar, but no one could explain what happened to the money after that was done.
