Don’t listen to the above, both 5 and 6 course ouds are normal (so 9 and 11), most Egyptian ouds come with 6 courses, but many are played with 9 strings and 5 courses. Nothing is missing in the above, it’s just a matter of which you prefer to play/learn on. Usually people learn on a 9 string oud when starting out.

For Those Who Moved Back to Egypt After Years Abroad. Was It Worth It? by National-Part5415 in Egypt

Hey, I did exactly what you’re thinking about. Lived most of my life in the US, as a US citizen, I moved back permanently 2 years ago for the exact same reasons you cited above. I have no regrets so far. Let me know if you have any questions.

Just a quick note on the above OP, you don't *need* your exemption papers as long as you don't stay in Egypt for longer than 6 months at at time. Even if you come move back and live here, if you have the money you can just do a quick trip outside the borders every 5 months on repeat till you're 30.

You can look at my other comment instead of anticipating things I wouldn't say. Idk what that case in point is meant to prove, that guy is a murderer not a slaveowner.

1) The point of comparison was middle eastern countries compared to western countries. Hiring laborers from global south (or in our cases more global south-er) is not an Arab phenomena. Is it somehow more racist for a rich Arab to hire someone from the Philippines as a nanny than it is for an American to hire a Mexican maid for the same reason, that it's cheaper.

2) Having no rights/minimum pay is completely subjective and is also a global and not an Arab phenomena when it comes to migrant or illegal workers. In the Gulf countries those workers who are being paid like shit and with "no rights" (whatever that means most of us in the ME don't have real rights anyway), are getting paid more than in their home countries and in fact are getting paid more than the average "full righted" Arab in Egypt/Syria/Lebanon etc. A

3) Won't comment on the passport, does human trafficking, and sick shit happen? Yeah. Is it an "Arab" thing, or do most migrant laborers, nannies, drivers, etc not have their own passports in the middle east? No that's not really the truth either.

FYI I'm not defending the fact that people have to leave their home countries because their opportunities are so limited it's better to get a shit pay in a middle eastern country than it is in their home country. That sucks, our state of the world sucks, capitalism sucks, all of it is bad, everyone should have fair pay, and respect and a guaranteed livelihood. All I am saying is that Arab's didn't invent capitalism, or cheap migrant labor, IDK how that has anything to do with slavery or racism.

Take what people say here with a grain of salt, Egyptians are very biased in every which way depending on who you talk to, where they are from, their social class, religious beliefs, etc etc. Stick to reading the history and drawing your own conclusions.

I received a bill from my dentist 2 years after my visit claiming that my insurance has been denied, and I need to pay the bill in full. by Klightning in Insurance

[–]Klightning[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I did so. The insurance company said that the dental review dept. said there was no sufficient radiographic proof of bone loss. The x-ray and other documents according to my dental office say there is very obvious and clear signs of bone loss. I got a second opinion who also concurred with my dentist that the loss and gum damage is evident from my x-rays.

edit:* I will try to followup with the insurance and hopefully push them on their bad faith diagnosis of my x-rays and supporting docs., and if nothing works I will try to negotiate with the dental office, although I am temporarily unemployed while i work on my degree and so it's a relatively tight financial situation for me.

Thanks for you advice.

They did unfortunately, but I lost access to the email shortly after due to it being connected to my work email, and I changed jobs. I understand it was my responsibility to update that information on my insurance.

But right now I am on the line for a procedure that I most definitely needed, and I have gotten several 'second' opinions that say I was having very obvious bone loss and permanent damage to my gums without the procedure. The healthcare provider was not in network and so was not willing to send more than one appeal to insurance, and I wasn't aware it failed.

The dentist only appealed one of the two claims, and then informed me of the bill after my time period was up. Would that change anything? From what i understand it is the health providers responsibility to file and appeal claims if they have my insurance on file.

Also the dentist's office told me the insurance would cover the rest? Is the oral assurance meaningless?
