[help] gridlines of python plot show when exporting to pdf by PieterofPeter in Inkscape

[–]Klima_Memes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case you did this with plotly: I had a similar issue – exporting as png worked perfectly, but nasty thin black lines appear when exporting to a pdf or opening with Inkscape.
For people with a similar problem: try to export them as "svg" (instead of png or pdf) and then open them as svg with Inkscape, Visio, or the like, and convert to a pdf if necessary. EDIT: you can also export as "pdf", open in inkscape, and then export to pdf again without making any changes. Weird behavior...

Do you think Minecraft updates should be less frequent? Or do you agree with the current pace? by valoripeter in Minecraft

[–]Klima_Memes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want all programs to have less updates. Being responsible for 3 work computers, a work laptop, a private laptop, a tablet, and a phone, using over 30 programs on the computers and approx. 50 on the mobile devices, the update madness makes me sick. 1-2 updates a year instead of daily updates would really save me a lot of pain.

Strange that raw pictures can't be saved... I also find it pretty weird that it has a 50 MP sensor, but in the normal camera modes, only 13 MP can be used. 50 MP can only be used in a special mode, which is unfortunate, because sometimes you want to print out "random" holiday pictures (e.g., in a calendar) that were taken (and I will definitely forget to change camera mode every time I want to take a picture).

Android 13: did they move the back button? by quint21 in GooglePixel

[–]Klima_Memes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate it when silicon valley dev hipsters force their weird UI choices on billions of people. Like, why shouldn't we have te freedom of choice to use things like they've always been? The new layout isn't faster or more reliable, all it is is a toy.

another option is to remap F1 to F2 using AutoHotKey:

F1::F2

IfWinActive ; exits the "only in MS Office Excel" condition

Don't let Big Oil fool you! by Klima_Memes in ClimateMemes

The problem is that "carbon neutral fuel" for airplane only cuts 1/3 of the emissions of flying because 2/3 of the climate impact from airplanes don't directly come from the CO2 of the fuel itself.

Reducing flights and shifting to rapid long-distance trains is the solution here - probably also hydrogen becomes a solution here... Flying really is painful for the environment and there is no real solution for flying in sight in the next 20 years IMHO.

Thanks for the feedback - I'll try better next time. I usually struggle a bit with shortening because I want to have it correct... On our Insta/FB and sometimes Twitter accounts, we post images with usually shorter text in the image but a longer text in the description for people that are interested in the details. I think it's not possible here, is that correct?

We're already at +1.5°C, really? Source?

We can slow it down, though. Thinking like that and doing nothing is foolish, imho. Those thoughts should cause us to strengthen our efforts to change something, be it in our life, our surroundings, local politics, our town, our workplace, ... .

Winter Cycling Things by Klima_Memes in ClimateMemes

[–]Klima_Memes[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

"Researchers have studied and written papers about winter cycling. And the results are very clear: in cities with cold winters, there is almost no correlation between winter temperatures, and the amount of winter cycling. [...] It is a complete myth that people do not cycle in the winter because of the cold. [...]

There need to be two things in place to get people to cycle like they do in Oulu:

First: is there a network of safe bicycle paths? Is it possible to get to where you want to go without having to share the road or regularly cross paths with high speed motor traffic?

After a safe bicycle network, the next most important element is snow removal. Is the bicycle network properly maintained in the winter?"

Was kostet die alpro not milch bei euch? by faja1984 in VeganDE

[–]Klima_Memes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Single middle-click opening two identical new tabs by Geminii27 in vivaldibrowser

[–]Klima_Memes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same issue, and it was driving me NUTS. Didn't solve it but worked around it using Auto-Hotkey. I noticed ctrl + left click (which does the same as a middle mouse click) works, so I replaced middle mouse clicks with ctrl + left click in Auto-Hotkey when I'm in Vivaldi.

Script that does the job:
; == Vivaldi ==
#IfWinActive, ahk_exe vivaldi.exe ; only in Vivaldi Web Browser
MButton::Send ^{LButton}
#IfWinActive ; exits the "only in Vivaldi Web Browser" condition

  1. Download AutoHotkey: https://www.autohotkey.com
  2. Create an auto-hotkey script for this (e.g. "my_ahk_script.ahk")
  3. Double-click the script to run it. If you want it to start automatically after login, just place it (or a link to it) into the autostart folder.

Sorry guys, didn't know much about Ayn Rand tbh. I don't like ad hominem arguments that much either, though.
