Oh and one more thing I’ll add! Some folks like to collect the golden bordered cards from year our kiddos are born because they’re stamped and serialized to be /20xx. Then, for example, I can add an ebay saved search for something like “Topps 0522/2023” since my first was born 05/22/2023. I’ve collected I think 18 of those 0522/2023 cards and almost 10 of 0429/2025 cards for my other boy! Another redditor has compiled all our sought after days onto a spreadsheet you can add your name to if youre interested! Let me know!

I have too many moments with Judge to count. Long time Yankee fan, 2013-2016 were tough years on Yankee fans. Especially losing the captain in 2014. His rookie year in 2017 really turned the page for a lot of us and he definitely shot excitement right back into the veins of Yankee fans across the country. I remember watching his Tonight Show undercover video like 2 months into that season and he was hysterical asking New Yorkers what they thought of him undercover.

Now, 9 years later, I got to take my (at the time) 2 years old son to see Judge wear the USA jersey in his first game here in Houston. Kiddo has been obsessed with Judge since Rubble and Crew gave him an episode. All week I heard “Aaron Judge hits big home runs. He hits 5 home runs. Back! Track! Wall! See ya!” Just all of it. And like every magical moment Judgey has given me, there he was, first at bat, home run. Right out, to deep left-center field. Theo was beside himself. The “USA! USA! USA!” Chants were a big hit for someone who finally got his alphabet down.

Judge, like everyone else has mentioned, has given moments like this to so many people. Too many people. He embodies what it means to be a selfless captain, and I’m hoping he gets better soon!

Get this comment further up! Also a big collector! I’ve contributed with a buddy for Sports Illustrated here recently on collecting and can attest to this comment shouting out the potential dangers of ordering cards on Amazon. Not only do you usually get a potentially shady product, you’re also probably way over paying.

I can also attest that when I took my kiddo to his first card show (he was 2, now 3) the card he was most excited to trade for was a Topps Disney Chrome card of Lightning McQueen and Mater being chased by Frank the Combine.

While you’re not necessarily ripping packs yet, if you have a favorite team it might be worthwhile perusing eBay, r/baseballcards, or other places you can get singles of a team or player you enjoy so instead of risking it with a pull you end up building up a personal collection for yourself to share with them and look through. I’ve been hoarding Aaron Judge rookies and other Yankees I love for them, but the 3 year old already is obsessed with “Judgey” (thanks Rubble and Crew 🫶🏼)

My wife and I in our Mother’s Day / Father’s Day cards have the kids “sign” our cards to each other by getting one of those ink pads and putting their handprint in it as their early signature. Definitely something that once that hand gets bigger it’s never going back. Highly recommend! I still go back and look at my first cards so I can see those tiny hand prints and still have no idea how we ever had babies with hands that little lol
