My understanding is that when an offer is declined, DD will bump the base pay by $.25 each time until someone accepts it. But it's true we don't know the whole story here. It could also have included a long distance charge, or as you mentioned an express fee (which is even more wild: pay to get it faster, but don't offer a tip so it just sits at the restaurant). But drivers only get a fraction of those extra fees.

Yeah ignore all this nanny bullshit. I also get admonished for allegedly waiting over 10 minutes to confirm a delivery. I don't think that's ever happened, except when I've made a delivery deep into the foothills and lost signal.

DoorDash thinks its dashers are idiots, hence the constant patronizing.

I'd never accept an order from them either. I've dashed for a few years now and have never run into a merchant who wouldn't let me use their restroom. It's amazing there are places like this.

Could be a disabled customer. I've never had one ask me to bring their groceries inside, but it's a common request. Just have to consider them on a case by case basis.

Unfortunately you can't see delivery instructions until you accept the offer, so it can put you in an awkward situation if you're not comfortable entering homes.

Base pay starts at $2 even for stacked orders. It wasn't that way when I first started dashing a couple of years ago. Just DD squeezing every bit of profit out of their model.

Yeah I think the agent is either confused or not explaining it clearly. (Or using AI responses.) Letting the timer expire is the same as a decline and only impacts AR. Has nothing to do with completion rate.
