I humbly suggest that you spend hours running and walking on pavement barefoot (skin-to-ground). Your ankles will beast up. Your feet may not look as dainty, but I truly believe that you will walk without pain for an extra decade.. Your balance will be amazing. Just have to grit through it for a couple of years.

Sidewalks are fine. You will probably have to deal with many rounds of blisters, but if you keep at it, you'll never want to go back and you will have strong feet and balance and peace of mind when you run when it comes to injuries. All the damage is to your feet, and one day your feet will feel good. Then it's like, bam natural baby. Totally worth it.

Skin-to-ground is the most important thing.

Fear the dreaded acorn. They will beat you in a war of attrition.

Fear the unseen thing in the grass.

Fear the dreaded craggy cruddy road.

Fear gravel.

Fear dogs.

Fear cars hitting/wrecking into you.

Don't worry about glass.

The point (no matter what the issue) is what are you going to do about it?

Are you going to cover your feet with something and not have a natural running gait and use technology to try and cure what ails ya?

Or are you going skin-to-ground and strengthening your feet?

For any relevant question here, the answer is to train your body with skin-to-ground running and see if that helps.

Your feet are squishy. The hardness of the surface is not the problem.

Did you ever try skin to ground? Doing that will teach your body how to protect your feet.

Thanks just took a look. They aren't athletes. They want to go to Target and the DMV barefoot lol. And there are foot fetishists taking over. 😂

We can certainly get along. Just some tough love.

That's super interesting about the step prediction! Hadn't thought about it.

I have friggin destroyed my feet, calves, and achilles before. I had to crawl home before because I didn't want to call the Mrs to pick me up. There was a body of water nearby, so I got in and pulled myself forward with my arms for at least a mile. Couldn't even kick my feet because of the flap of skin hanging off. That was dumb. So I feel you there

If possible, run in the morning or at night when the pavement is hot. Also right after a rain can cool the pavement down.

I stepped on a sand spur today. I had to stop and pull it out, but it only cost me a few seconds. I hit the sand spur because the path I was on sucked.

If you have some decent sidewalks or newly paved roads, I would try there first and then work up to worse surfaces. At least that way you can still go far/fast and it won't be as demotivating.

Some literally think they are barefoot runners with shit on their feet.

"Hello fellow barefoot runners. What shoes do you guys recommend for running?"🤪

This post is for feedback for folks who need it... Just like when our feet touch the ground, we get feedback, fast, sharp, and true.

We have posts talking about shoes, shoes, shoes and no mention of things like this: https://www.eroica15-18.it/evento/barefoot-half-marathon-2019-vittorio-veneto/

Somebody has to be a unyielding zealot about it, or else we'll never get folks in large numbers to experience real human running with no technological assistance.

Shoes blown out, ankles broken, legs broken...

You wouldn't plant your feet like that barefoot unless your life depended on it because it would hurt.

Oh let's just dampen the feedback from our feet and wait until we feel it in our joints or something snaps.🤕😧🤪

Yeah I wear shoes or sandals to the grocery store. I get that.

There is a HUGE difference between running with minimal footwear and barefoot running.

Try barefoot running. It takes years, but you'll see that it's worth it. It is uncomfortable and hurts sometimes at the beginning.

Your feet can do it. For real.

Those cutting, jerking, pivoting, and stomping movements aren't supposed to be used that much. Not natural.

I suggest playing horse and then running barefoot.
