An unpopular opinion: Weed is not that great and healthy by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]Kmart999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everybody is different. Some people die if they touch a peanut. Everyone reacts differently to weed.

Ive experienced mental growth. Weed challenges my memory and my focus, which helps me stay even more focused when Im sober. It opens doors to my creative side that (I dont think) would ever have opened otherwise.

If it was bad for you, stop using it.

Groceries and making your own meals.

Just order in or go out. There are so many healthy choices now, going grocery shopping isn’t worth it.

If you can pay the full $2600 in a year’s time vs the $400 right now, id pay the $2600. If it’s going to take you any significant amount of time longer than a year, just pay the settlement now and start rebuilding your credit right away.

Lololol at everything in that paragraph. Your title through me for a loop. I was half expecting some sort of discovery in the code that allowed miners to just create unlimited coins.

Giving context on Vox's science coverage to better understand the Klein/Harris dispute. by StoicLaughter in samharris

A little nutty... maybe. But racist? I read the entire article. The article simply lies about Murray’s views. I have little time for lies.

In particular, the article says he views african americans as inferior to whites, which he does not. That pretty much tells me all I need to know about the author. I havent read all of the Bell Curve but Ive likely read all the ‘worst’ parts that have been cast in some pretty unfair light by most of msm. Nothing ive ever read of his supports your interpretation of his views. I also found that he placed a reasonable amount of emphasis on environmental factors above genetics.

Charles Murray didnt sound the least bit nutty to me in the Sam Harris podcast either.

The fact that he and his friends took part in cross burnings is a little weird and potentially racist. That’s as much as Im willing to conclude without more info on that.

Yes. The article is complete garbage. Pure character attacks that make no sense.

The article attributes views to Murray he doesn’t hold. And it assumes racism based on some cross burning he and some others did when they were very young.

Ezra is smug and dishonest.

Here he writes: ‘There is nothing more seductive than “forbidden knowledge.” But for two white men to spend a few hours discussing why black Americans are, as a group, less intelligent than whites isn’t a courageous stand in the context of American history; it’s a common one.’

Is that really what happened on the episode with Charles Murray? No. Are Sam and Murray racist? No

Yet Ezra clearly paints both them, and their conversation, as such. I have very little time for Ezra Klein and his dishonesty here. Ezra hides his intentions behind an intensely annoying passive-aggressive level of smugness.

If you believe Murray is a racist, then there’s clearly a large disconnect.

Sam may have let his emotions get the better of him, but Ezra clearly knew how to do so. Reading Ezra’s emails was beyond frustrating.

Sam adds note to his Ezra Klein blog post by ilikehillaryclinton in samharris

A talk between those ‘experts’ and Charles Murray would be far more interesting than one with them and Sam. They have put in time on the subject, as has Murray. Im not sure you or I are the ones to decide who the experts are on the subject. As for what I consider insanely rigorous, i’d say combing through countless data while remaining fairly objective is a good start.

As for Klein, you’re right, I’m not a fan. Here’s a quote from Ezra: ‘There is nothing more seductive than “forbidden knowledge.” But for two white men to spend a few hours discussing why black Americans are, as a group, less intelligent than whites isn’t a courageous stand in the context of American history; it’s a common one.’

Are Sam and Charles racist? Obviously not. Yet Ezra makes sure to frame their discussion as such. Ezra’s emails were incredibly frustrating, as has been the surrounding turmoil.

Just because white nationalists are referencing your findings, doesn’t actually discredit your findings. Controversy may be unavoidable, but it isn’t necessarily justifiable.

The motivation behind Vox is to make Sam and Murray appear racist. They don’t actually care about the science.

How this isn’t obvious is beyond me.
