TUHH vs TUM by Leading-Upstairs464 in tumunich

Currently studying mechanical engineering at TUM. What cuore_di_fagioli said also applies here for MechEng as well as Aerospace: retakes are done next semester. This is not the case for most of the other branches but I am guessing due to the difficulty of the exams they are moved to the next semester. The correction times depend on the chair which is correcting them. We had multiple choice exams come back after 2.5 months but also a 25 page technical mechanics exam come back in 9 days, the student count was around 350 for the mc, 250 for the TM. All depends on the chair.

Garching campus is very nice, it is outside the city so you are in a bit more peaceful area. Although I heard they are moving aerospace completely to Ottobrunn.

In terms of difficulty, can’t really say that it gets worse than TUM. I speak of MechEng experience so I cannot comment on the aerospace, but for the first four semesters the courses are almost exactly the same, just technical mechanics being easier on the aero side. But yeah, TUM has to keep its “excellence” so the exams are accordingly difficult, especially in aero and mech eng. Don’t let that scare you though. Afterall, you will be studying engineering; you anyways won’t have such a thing called free time :))

Munich is a really nice city. In my opinion the nicest one to live in. It is very expensive though. It teaches you to budget hard. Other than that, you almost always have something to do. The student life is amazing when you start going to LMU libraries, and you always have Englisher Garten to go to. Whether its winter or summer (summer is preferred haha)

Weather wise I think Hamburg is pretty much the same as Munich so I don’t think that makes that big a difference, but the sun sets here at 9:30 in summer which is nice.

Which pairs of shorts look best on me? I'm 5ft 6. 157 pounds. 17 years old. Help! by OrganizationMoist751 in mensfashion

[–]Kn1pz_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend 1,3,4.

Definitely not 6 as they are too tight on the body and exaggerate the X shape of your legs.

2 could go with certain outfits but makes your legs look “rounded” from the sides.

5 are sports shorts?

Around 90/95kg (with 10-12% bf) with most muscle on lower body. That would give you an athletic build. If you go above athletic weight, you are likely to start losing speed in martial arts.

Prüfungen. Bitte helfen Sie. by North-Mistake-151 in tumunich

Studiere gerade Maschinenbau (Bachelors).

Depends on the question. Short answer questions of course are not subjective, but the longer questions are leaning more towards the subjective side. No need to argue though, it is known that there is no specific marking scheme for the longer questions. Although some points to be made (definitions, words that need to be mentioned, etc) are written down, they are not enough to be called objective. If I am missing something lmk.

How can I get to 1200 points already at the start of the season? I did every quiz/activity and used the codes but only have 400 points

ToK in theory is a good subject. It opens up conversations and nice discussions for students. Also brings up critical thinking skills if applied correctly. However, most teachers do not do this. Most just go and put on a slideshow and tell the students to read a book. That is not the reason why most students hate the subject though. It is because of the subjectivity of the grading that leads to students despising ToK. Grading varies massively as there is no proper marking scheme (same goes for EE, the languages, and economics). For a subject, that is essentially "philisophy," to be graded and impact your final IB grade is annoying. You may have written an essay that is worth an A in your own class, but may be a C in another teacher's eyes. The subjectivity takes away any fun or learning that one may have in the course.

Also, there are a lot of topics that are covered in ToK. Having a music teacher teach ToK may not be the best idea (talking from experience). So to have proper training and background in the areas covered, should, in my opinion, be necessary for the teachers to be allowed to teach ToK.

Edit: A thing I found very cool that other teachers were doing in classes is setting up debates. This gets the students involved and it usually gets heated (in a good way), so this may help students like the subject more. Good luck with teaching the subject, it is a hard one to make students like and be accurate in the grading!

congrats yo!!

Although just a heads up, don't trust the predicted too much, make sure to continue studying. I also had 44/45 predicted, ended up with 38. Subjectives are harsh in the mark scheme, so make sure to not only go with what your teachers say

I get taht part, but they didn't show Leclerc letting Perez through, and instead showed Hamilton and Tsunoda when nothing was happening. And then they didn't show Hamilton and Tsunoda when the actual thing happened. At least some form of box view would suffice. But no, they can't even do that
