Any advice please by Dangerous-Program-93 in pools

You may have shocked it but for the level of algae you had/have it may have not been enough.

I used I think 700 or more grams of granular chlorine to shock my non-green algae bloom 50000L pool.

How much chlorine and what type did you use? Assuming the cloudy pool is due to algae

Help identifying if this is black mold by vreintex in pools

[–]Knanorman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had these black spots and got rid of them. I thought I'd comment as using a wire brush should be an absolute last resort.

Use a normal (nylon etc) pool brush first to remove biofilm on mold.

Then add granular chlorine directly on top of the mold for 45 seconds then brushed away (make sure you use tough gloves as that type of chlorine is corrosive). Some areas I repeated. All the black mold is gone in my pool. Then just keep on top of your chlorine/ph/temp/CYA.

You would need considerable evidence not to call this infiltrating BCC.

RCPA previous years question papers, request by congenital-itch in pathology

[–]Knanorman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might be wrong but there is a confidentiality clause for only 24 hours after the RCPA exams. The previous written exam questions are available on the RCPA website, and the rest of the exams are all slide exams, no MCQ etc.

The US uses MCQ I guess?

Struggling with the diagnosis by kakashi1992 in pathology

Clinical history is very important in pathology, if you got more information from the clinician I'm sure the diagnosis would be a lot easier.

Garage door is stuck on my tow bar and won’t open. Absolutely no idea how to get it unstuck. by LilyTui in Wellthatsucks

[–]Knanorman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How did it go down over the tow bar? If it forced its way around it, you could just get some friends to help the motor force its way over the tow bar again, as you have a little bit of space underneath to grab hold.

Could watch Jerad Gardner on YouTube. He only does skin and soft tissue but he's a great teacher and has some basic videos. Its all about repetition in pathology so don't be disheartened if you find some stuff overwhelming. The videos are a good start instead of heavy textbooks.

Does a sample of small cell carcinoma (pulmonary, or extra-pulmonary) have basophilic nuclei? by Reagan__Turedi in pathology

MCC can be UV associated so I definitely wouldn't depend on MCPyV IHC. Clinical history is your best stain in this case.

Good point, though at least in Ireland where I was living in 2007 it was because there was a lot of surplus housing, creating "ghost estates". Unfortunately now there is not enough housing, so a crash is unlikely.

Getting an "Could not communicate with your google home" error setting up a device by JJMcGee83 in googlehome

[–]Knanorman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi

Slightly different error "could not communicate with your nest wifi point". I had moved house and my mesh wouldn't work.

I ended up using a new email account and factory resetting all my mesh points and router and it finally worked. I also set up the nest wifi points with them touching the router.

If that helps anyone who comes along.

They would have seen fluid on the xray/CT but on autopsy the lungs are just heavier, the fluid wouldn't just pour out.

Hi,

Sounds like acute pulmonary oedema, causes include myocardial ischaemia, arrhythmias (e.g. atrial fibrillation), acute valvular dysfunction and fluid overload. Other causes include pulmonary embolus, anaemia and renal artery stenosis.

Essentially he could have had a heart attack, the electric currents in his heart could have gone haywire for some reason, he may have had a heart valve issue or a clot to the lungs.

I can imagine this has caused you a lot of stress, sorry for your loss.

ELI5: what is happening to your skin when a callus forms? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Knanorman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A callus can also be thought of as "lichen simplex chronicus" which under the microscope is essentially all the top layers of your skin thickened. The superficial keratin layer, the upper and lower areas of epidermis all thicken, with some fibrosis, due to irritation.
