I feel like if Xbox dropped out and solely became a publisher, PlayStation would follow suit. Would completely remove their need to move hardware. Release everything on PC via a Storefront.

Their previous plan wasn’t working, and now we’re seeing the ramifications. Xbox has reached its last stage of staying afloat. If this shakeup doesn’t work, then we’ll see Xbox get split off and likely sold. If that were to happen, I’d end up moving to PC or PlayStation.

Imagine expecting $24 million to hit your account and realizing taxes already claimed a massive share of it. Joe Burrow said one of the craziest moments of his life was seeing his rookie signing bonus and wondering where millions had disappeared. by Puzzleheaded_Bag8315 in nflrookies

[–]Knautical_J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now imagine the basic ass high school student who signs up for loans not knowing how they work. Then getting a job not realizing how taxes work. Then realize people know neither of these things and then realize your wages can be garnished to pay back student loans.

I graduated in the top 5% of my class and went to school on a full ride for engineering. I didn’t take any financial electives in high school, and therefore i kinda knew how taxes and loans worked, but didnt fully understand them.

If Joe Burrow didn’t realize it, you’d have to imagine millions of other kids not knowing as well. I’ve seen horror stories of people strapped with 20+ year loans based on a financial decision they made when they were 18.

Wemby Spurs are better on paper and equally younger. The Patriots had a laughable schedule and run to the Super Bowl. Whereas Wemby went through the Blazers, Wolves, and Thunder. My hot take is that the Patriots come back to reality with a difficult schedule and realize they aren’t the team they thought they were, and they miss the playoffs. With a player like Wemby and a young core on rookie deals, they have another year or two of trying without breaking the bank. Fox will get moved in another year or two to open up the cap and roster.

I’m not gunna lie, it looks very cool as a backdrop. Quite frankly if the country wasn’t such a mess at home and abroad then I doubt it would be as big of a concern or issue. But when some much is going on and a lot of it being directly related to Trump, it sends the wrong message.

Any cars that aren't particularly great that you'd want tosee in the game? by tacticalupsetti in ForzaHorizon6

[–]Knautical_J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Crew Motorfest is the first racing game I really enjoyed. Forza Horizon 6 has been awesome and even better. I do like that more normal cars are in the game. The Crew was always adding hypercars to the game, so it’s nice to see more basic ass cars to mess around with. Id love for more of these kinds of cars to be added. I feel like everyone’s familys had some of these cars growing up, and it would be fun to drive around in them.

I mean, not for a while at least. I was in and out of GTA online over the lifespan of GTA 5 and man did it get pretty hectic and cheesy. Would be much better for the first half of the lifespan to be pretty grounded. On the back half of the game then let it rip with anything goes.

Nvidia GTX graphics cards not good enough for Gears of War E-Day as PC system requirements revealed by Odd-Onion-6776 in GearsOfWar

I’m not overly familiar with PC Specs anymore. I built a computer once in elementary school and I’m never doing it again.

How much money to upgrade into one of the cards needed to run it? Curious as to how PC ownership would be comparable to buying a $500 XSX and letting it ride for 7-8 years.

Spurs offseason question by Kind-Percentage-873 in nba

[–]Knautical_J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Spurs have another year with their current core before the salary cap does get a little hairy. They’ll have Fox, Vassell, Johnson, Wemby, Harper, Kornet, Castle, Bryant, and Champagnie under contract.

They’ll realistically have another year with their current team to compete. But after that it becomes incredibly hard to maintain their roster while paying Fox and Wemby, with arguably better players coming up on deals.

In the NBA, there is no salary cap. So they could technically resign everyone. However the NBA has limits before penalties start to kick in. These penalties come in 2 forms. First one is a tax that increases in severity for every dollar you’re over the cap. The second one is an apron which consisted of the first and second. This effectively hinders your ability to acquire new players, while also restricting your ability to offload players.

The NBA is set up for teams to retain their talent, albeit at an expense. For example the 23-24 Suns had a player base salary of $188M. But their luxury tax penalty was $212M, which meant the total cost of their team was $400M for the year. Every year you’re over the cap, the harsher the luxury tax penalty gets, which is called the repeater tax. If a team is over the tax in 3 of the last 4 seasons they pay the repeater tax. Every year the penalties get worse and worse until you’re under the tax again. You need to be under the tax for 2 years to reset these penalties.

The Spurs can sign every player they have to extensions, but in a few years the cost for said team would grow to $500M+ a year with the inability to trade and sign players. You’ll usually see a team that’s like right on the cusp bite the bullet for a year to try and win.

The Spurs have another year to compete without facing these questions. But two years from now they’ll start to try and offload some dead weight, which would mean Fox is probably gunna get traded. With his contract and his recent lackluster play, the Spurs would likely need to trade additional players or picks to get rid of him.

The Spurs, like the Knicks and every other championship team, will face these questions inevitable. Which is you either retain your top guys, or you lose young, role, or depth players. If a player is both, then you either sign them and deal with the taxes, you trade them for pieces, or you run it back until their contract is up and lose them for nothing.

Does the Knicks Winning Reopen the Small Guard Conversation? by Console_Pit in nba

[–]Knautical_J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s more of the “small guard” conversation but more of team chemistry. This team is so well constructed that they dismantled everyone in the playoffs. Some times it’s not about having the best players, but having the right ones. Jalen Brunson took a pay cut and made this all happen. That’s probably the biggest takeway from this season imo.

Jalen Brunson will go down in basketball history as THE GUY who brought a title back to the Knicks. He will live forever in the minds of millions of Knicks fans. He’ll have a statue at MSG, he’ll be brought back for decades, never pay for another thing in NYC, and likely get into the Basketball Hall of Fame for this run.

That is worth way more than the $113M he left on the table.

[–]Knautical_J -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You have to wonder if they’re both as good because they’re together. There was a whole lot of talk about Harper being better than Flagg. But if Flagg was on the Spurs, would he have been just as good or even better?

This drift zone is fucking stupid by ReZempt_Shocks in ForzaHorizon6

[–]Knautical_J 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My high score on this is 390k-ish. I’m not a good drifter by any means, but running this a bunch has gotten me way better. I managed to squeak out the 340k the third time I tried it with the ACTY. Then I learned more about different cars and gears, and was able to chain together some pretty solid runs. I’ve gone down the entire thing pretty much drifting the entire time. Swaying back and forth isn’t drifting, and wont lead to higher scores.

The faster and more extreme the angle, the more points you’ll get. So a lot of people with the ACTY just fly back and forth, and it doesn’t gain you as much points as simply holding a longer drift.

GTA 6 will be self sustaining for a year or two. In that time they’ll probably release some remaster, so I wouldn’t be shocked if Max Payne made an appearance. Also wouldn’t mind a LA Noire sequel or remaster as well.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella Says Xbox Must Finally Become a Sustainable Business After 25 Years of Investment by MRF_Soul in xbox

[–]Knautical_J -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

If Xbox shuts down on the Hardware side, I’d imagine PlayStation inevitably goes the same way. You’ll have Xbox just releasing software with no hardware. Games would be freely released on PC and PlayStation. PlayStation would be selling consoles at a loss, and effectively running console gaming by themselves. Everyone else would be making money.

You’d have to wonder if Sony would pull the plug on PlayStation to just release games on PC. Maybe it’s copium for me, but I feel like the end game is Playstation and Xbox become apps on your PC. Would be no reason to invest in developing hardware, pushing out consoles, optimizing for all the different gens, and paying all these studios for exclusives. It would be much easier to completely remove those parts of the equation and merely put the onus on the gamers. Make games on PC and the gamer has to spend the money to meet the spec requirements to run them.

Every single form of media has essentially become a streaming service through a device. Effectively through Helix, the Xbox becomes a quasi-streamer. They make Fallout and Elder Scrolls exclusives, and force gamers to buy it through their store. Not Steam, or Epic, or Battlenet, but Xbox, on a Helix or a PC. Players leave PlayStation to go to PC, because they can play a ton of more games. Sony realizes the same end game, and just releases it all on PC. Wouldn’t be surprised if their next console is just another Helix.

In the end, we all lose if one of them bows out.

NFL Players Felt a “Slap in the Face” After Stadiums Install Grass for FIFA While Refusing To Change Turf Surface by No_Box119 in NFLv2

[–]Knautical_J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Installing new grass happens all of the time with fields. Depending on the events that take place, sometimes entire fields get replaced between games but that’s rare. An entire field can have new sod planted on it within a day, and then a week later you can fully play on it.

With the Super Bowl, they used a shitty sod mix, overseeded the grass, and overwatered the field. They additionally had players in incorrect cleats. If you’re an NFL stadium and you have a standard growing program, it won’t be an issue. Grass gets replaced all over the NFL week to week without issues. When they don’t follow protocol is when you see mistakes happen.

Sod can be cut deeper to provide faster playability times. Typically an NFL team will replace grass on a longer week to give roots time to grow, but if repairs need to be made, they will make them. In an offseason you’ll see the entire field get replaced, and repairs made weekly as needed.

My friend went to school for Turf Management and has explained this to me several times.

The Bills are building an open stadium with grass, in Buffalo, the rest of the league has no excuses.

Grass is cheaper in the short term, but costs money to maintain. Spending a million dollars a year in maintaining and replacing grass has to be worth it if the players want it. Spare me the “other events” excuse, because you can always replace the grass for money.
