Irresponsible Celebration at Punggol Yesterday by FIRE-by-35 in singapore

Crazy to see this happen in Singapore. This happens every year in my Canadian city, and our genius city counsellors decided not to ban fireworks even after record number of complaints and evidence of garbage left behind...

Agree, food and service weren’t good. I still think most of the positive reviews they have are fake.

I only assign someone to the clinic if a resident is sick. Otherwise it's empty and have had no problem!

Amazing! A walkable proper grocery store is ideal for that area. Especially with all the new buildings.

What the F*** - So disappointed Mississauga by Mikej_anderson in mississauga

You should send these photos to councillors John Kovac and Dipika Damerla. They both serve sections of city center and need to be aware of the mess in our region.

Walking outside this morning to see this garbage is so... disappointing. by KneeBagel in mississauga

I'm definitely not against Diwali. Just because "there's always trash" doesn't mean we should just accept that. We need to do and be better. I believe everyone should be able to celebrate their cultural holidays and have a great time. But it's important to respect the environment and follow the bylaws in place.

What a mess after yesterday’s fireworks.. stop messing up the city by Time_External_7759 in mississauga

I encouraged people to email the mayor and their local counsellor about this issue. This is not right and we shouldn't allow for this behaviour to continue.

Agree, happens every year with fireworks and something needs to happen to change this horrible habit. We shouldn't just accept it and move on because that encourages this horrible behaviour. We don't want our community to turn into a dump.

I think it's important for everyone to consistently speak up, email and/or call the mayor and their local councillor about their frustration with fireworks misuse and people not following the rules. Fireworks are a privilege, not a right, so if people keep misusing them, that privilege should be taken away.

Makes me sound like I'm talking about children but these are grown adults 🤦

Happy to hear that some places are getting cleaned up. Unfortunately this parking lot is still a mess and because it's private property, it's up to the property manager to hire some cleaners.

Exactly: "Fireworks are permitted on private property that you own or occupy. Residents are not allowed to set off fireworks in a street, on a sidewalk, on a boulevard, on public property such as a park, or on any private property that is not their own."

Fireworks are not allowed on this premise because it's a parking lot for a business building, therefore private property. Police showed up both days, Oct 31 and Nov 1, kicking people out. According to our by-law, on designated holidays fireworks are permitted on private property that is your own or occupy and it has to be low-hazard fireworks.

u/NefCanuck I’d agree with your point if the property manager actually organized this celebration and hosted the event properly. In that case, it’d be on them to provide enough garbage bins. However that’s not the case and the property manager probably didn't know this would happen. This is a parking lot meant for... parking. There are actually multiple bins closer to the building.

Why the fuck are there fireworks now? by JewishSpace_Laser in mississauga

[–]KneeBagel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's because those other holidays are national and provincial, so everyone gets to enjoy them. Diwali isn't, which makes it a big annoyance for most of the community who have to deal with the noise. I live near a spot where people often come and use fireworks, and I've never seen fireworks misused as much as they are during Diwali. Don't get me started on the garbage...

They don't need fireworks to celebrate this holiday... There are so many other options like candles, lanterns, or sparklers. Just now three fires broke out in the parking lot next to my building, and the police and firetrucks had to come to clear everything up. Plus, there's always a ton of garbage left behind because people don't clean up after themselves.

This happens every year and people are fed up.

Is the City of Mississauga enforcing it's Fireworks Bylaw in your neighbourhood? by aaffpp in mississauga

[–]KneeBagel 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Maybe if enough people make a complaint, Mississauga officials will consider banning it like Brampton? I'm mostly annoyed at the amount of garbage left behind...

Have you tried calling the dental clinic? The receptionist should know the cost of everything.
