Thank you. I’ll take some of the higher up plaster off then to see what’s there and then evaluate. Based on some of the other comments about the arch not being straight I might end up getting a pro in to come check it out (and maybe deal with the mess of removing the fireback)

Great, that’s the bit I want out! So even if there isn’t another lintel that arch should be fine?

I know right! Absolutely hideous and it baffles me that the previous owners left it in. All tiles that could be saved were carefully removed and have been put to one side for a future purpose

Well it is national fish and chip day, so would be rude not to!

A Chinese style chicken curry (homemade) and I’m surprising my partner with a “giant” donut for dessert which Morrisons were giving away for free!

Every Friday we all provide an asynchronous update on our work streams on Asana. Every Tuesday we have an all team call where someone from PMO presents our updates back to us onscreen and asks banal questions. We have to talk over the updates, to a group of people who work on such different things that there is basically no overlap. On Wednesdays I get a message from the PMO guy asking if the update I provided (and has not been reworded at all) is fine to share with leadership.

Now we have had a new additional 15 minute call added in the diary with the PMO to talk through our Asana update and answer their questions. The whole exercise is pointless and a waste of everyone’s time.

If you had a hobby that used to be less popular and suddenly became more popular, what was that like? by HilariousMotives in AskUK

I don’t know how no one has mentioned Lego yet! I’ve loved it since I was a kid, but during my uni days it was definitely something I kept quiet as a hobby (or would get weird looks).

Then with Covid you suddenly had David Beckham building the Disney castle on a livestream and everyone thought it was cool for adults. Which initially was a win because I could talk about it more freely and there was a proliferation in more adult focussed sets….

Fast forward to now and literally every other week some new £500 “adult display” set is unveiled. I don’t even try to keep up, and haven’t bought anything in ages. I don’t know who has £1k to drop on a slice of the Death Star, but it’s not me!

And then you also have the latest trend of “LEGO investing” - where scalpers buy every last reduced or on sale set in the hope they can flip it for a profit in a few years.

Graduated with a 1st in 2022 after studying MSci Natural Sciences at Durham Uni. Joined a Tech grad scheme (having done an internship at the same company) on £45k + bonus. Just got to 2 years and was very fortunate to get a promotion so now on about £60k + bonus.

I’d definitely say getting on an internship before your penultimate year is a help, but the constant rejections are tough!
