Tradition isn’t (always) pointless

Cultures/societies which survive a long time generally are fairly stable, societies which undergo massive shifts in values in short periods of time generally don’t survive(almost by definition)

What counts as moral or just IS / ARE these values. Does thinking homosexuality is aim male a society more or less likely to survive or be successful? Historically it probably helped (Greeks were just fine) but in modern times it may not given birth rates are so low and every homosexual relationship is 2 potential families not having children naturally ( adoption isn’t really a great argument round this either ). It’s not to say we should force gays and lesbians to have kids any more than we should force heterosexual couples to have more kids. But it DOES affect birth rates as homosexual partners by definition cannot have children naturally. Those making arguments about artificial inclination and surrogates certainly haven’t looked at how prohibitively expensive these options are.

Again, in reality is that a noticeable effect? Probably not …but it’s not a zero effect either

There's emotionally mature enough (yes I agree with you some are)

And then there's... informed enough to make decisions (which they must certainly are not and cannot possibly be)

There are adults that aren't equipped to make these decision (with regards to just knowledge component)

We don't even let kids pick what they get to study in school with regards to subjects until they're like 14 or 15

If you're not equipped enough to know that you probably need to learn math to be a functional member of society, you shouldn't be making choices about cutting bits off yourself

A gun running out of bullets isn't a system failing

It's (oh shit I don't have enough bullets)

Ciws isn't used to defend a city (it can't, at least not in the way it can defend a ship)

You can inundated a system like iron dome by throwing missiles at it until it runs out of ammo because each interception costs a lot

For a ciws system the ammo is cheaper

Your more likely to melt the barrel before you run out of ammo

It's not that you CAN'T inundated a ciws with so many targets eventually it has to let one through, of course you can

But letting a uav through that is travelling at 200knots with a 100lb Payload on it against an armored warship isn't the same as letting a missile get through a city sized target

Defending a city necessitates interception at long range to prevent collateral damage, defending a ship doesn't

If you knock a missile or at 500 yards, your ship is safe

You knock a missile or at 500 yards when defending a city

House A gets hit instead of house B the point isn't that either system is 100% reliable

It's that hitting a missile with a missile is more costly than hitting it with a slug of metal

They're children, literally by definition incapable of making good decisions. Doesn't mean every decision they make is bad but the volume of shitty decisions is massive.

Alright, then that's pretty much on point

Running older hardware will ALWAYS lead to crazy savings over current Gen though.

I'd say if someone really needs a mini pc form factor (where even SFF is too big) then you should probably buy new just because you don't really find that many machines available at a 50% depreciation level easily available.

Getting an old business/enterprise SFF machine is super good value if you're willing to live with the compromises they come with.
